Guest guest
Angie, The program is out there, and is actually alot more intense than what we're doing. It's supposed to start at 30 questions (10 in each category), but that just seemed like too much. We ultimately worked up to three sets of questions, and they did get routine. What we've moved on to is just the last set of questions/answers (we formulated them with his teacher for things he needs to know in going through his day). We've just added a new " what " program and " why " program. With those programs, you show a picture and say " The duck is swimmimg. " Then follow with, " What is the duck doing? " Hopefully you get the full sentence answer " The duck is swimming, " but it does require some initial prompting (especially of they're not used to actually answering questions). The " why " program is the similar ( " The girl is crying because she's sad. " " Why is the girl crying? " ) Note that the echolalia program is only supposed to replace the echoing, not necessarily elicit conversation or specifically foster social language in and of itself. But, for us, it's laid a good foundation for moving forward to be able to work on these things, as well as free him up to be able to show us what he does already know. Let mw know if you want more detail. Alaine > > My son also has echolalia and gets stuck talking about certain things and topics. Was the program by the SPL desiged just by her? and does she mostly work with kids with ASD. Are the questions very scripted? When my son had some ABA in the past, he would really latch onto the scripted lines taught by the therapist, and I still hear some of the exact phrases today from a year ago. The therapy was stopeed last June. This program must have gotten beyond this somehow? Or maybe it just depends on the child and their response. > > Angie > > > --------------------------------- > No Cost - Get a month of Blockbuster Total Access now.
