Guest guest
Your hands should be stained black if they are black walnuts. At least mine were last year when I gathered mine. The black took about a week to finally fade away. Maybe mine were more ripe?? I have a bunch of trees but do not see any walnuts yet this year. The fruits are green, roundish, and about 2" in dia. When I peeled off the thick husk there was some brown around the nut, and my fingers are stained yellow. Does this sound like black walnut? If so, how would I use it? Should I store the nuts and let them dry out a bit? I cannot crack them with the nutcrackers. A walnut newbie. and the K9's
