Guest guest
Have you spoken to Dr. G about it? If you have, I would bring it up again and be more detailed. He may think it's nothing but if you tell him you really think it needs to be investigated, he may do it just to make you feel better. I truly believe he doesn't want you scared or worried. In the past, when I've been concerned about something and I pressed the issue, he obliged. Cheryl On May 4, 2008, at 5:29 PM, Jerri & Nick Gann wrote: > I'm kind of panicking here. Guest guest
My son had some spots like this for a few days that were on his chest, back and stomach. They did look like bruises and had a very small red dot inside of them, that faded first and then the spots faded like a normal bruise would have. They were about or less than the size of a pencil eraser. There were not a lot of them. At this time, My yougest and I had a cold as well. I wondered if my son had a viral thing going on and could not respond normally, he was really crabby also with this and had more aggression. In Jan. he had his 6 yr check with the regualar ped. and he happened at this time to have petechiae on his very upper chest and neck, no bruises but just the very needle point red dots. I told the MD about earlier and then he later looked and these and said they were probably viral and from an overactive immune system, and found himself aggreeing with my by defult! He said to come back if they did not resolve or got worse. We did not have to follow up. I personally think these are from my son's over active immune system, as it seems to fit his clinical picture. We are new to and are going to have our appt this summer, so it will be interesting the thought on this. It is a good idea to ask Dr. G. I think as well. I did not see a derm. MD for this, I figured it was more a hematology / immune issue. Not sure if this sounds alot like your son, but this is just my experience with this. Guest guest
Hey Jerri- With the throat clearing, I wonder if he's had his ASO titers checked recently? If they are very high, sometimes *I think* that can cause a lot of platelet activation (not necessarily increase the numbers), and with that, you'd get easier bruising and odd marks, etc. I've had marks checked too, and I've also sworn I was getting clots, and I know my blood clots differently when my ASO is high. But I don't think I'm at risk of stroke or major clot disorders because of it ... that's a different sort of problem. While I know you can read horror stories about platelet activation, the kind we would have with PANDAS (and maybe other TH1 over-activation??) are NOT of the nature that would put you at the kind of risk as other platelet issues. For one, there's not an increase in their numbers ... which is when it becomes a risk. I also think it's a common finding in CFIDS. I'll bet that if you had his sed rate checked while these are going on, it would be very low like 0,1,or 2. Again, not a dangerous thing...just a marker. Soooo.... it is MOST likely one of those *wierd* eccentric things we get stuck fretting over that no regular doctor ever is concerned about, because it is not known to be dangerous. Oh - and I forgot - I get a big increase in restless leg when my ASO is high too, as well as with yeast. What I'd do is take a picture of it and email it to Dr G just for your peace of mind. If he is concerned, he'd do more tests. I hope that helps. I know it's scary. Don't go reading about it - because I already scared myself to death over it and a -friendly doctor explained it to me a while back what is different but I just can't remember the details. --- Jerri & Nick Gann <njgann@...> wrote: > I'm kind of panicking here. Guest guest
Jerri, I second ¹s idea of sending Dr. G a photo. I recently e-mailed him a photo of a severe rash my son had, and I think it was helpful to him. One thing, though. It turned out that his staff can only print things out it black and white, so you might want to use the regular mail to send him an actual photo. I don¹t think he ever saw the actual photo I sent... just the black and white printout. Caroline
Guest guest
Thanks everyone for your responses. Cheryl, I just had my phone consult with Dr G. So my next one is a month off but I will sure tell him all about. It seems something always happens after my phone consult when I tell him things are going well. I'm almost afraid to ever say things are going well because then something seems to happen to scare the hell out of me soon after. Taking a picture and mailing it to him, is a good idea, . His ASO titers are finally in range and he is still on Eryped. He's been on it for so long now. I guess I just have to wait until my next phone consult because any other dr. probably won't help much. Thanks for all the reassuring emails in the meantime. Jerri ---- Original Message ---- From: sfglover@...
