Guest guest
Holly, the regression you are seeing is more than likely due to the larger amounts of protease in Peptizyde, plus the DPP IV actions in decreasing endogenous amounts of exorphin peptides. In other words, it may be a withdrawal reaction, even though he is gfcf. If it is withdrawal, it usually shows up around day 7 after taking Peptizyde, and then lessens after day 14 or so. It varies, but that seems to be the average. Yeast die-off can be increased using high-protease enzymes, so that may well be contributing to the effects seen. Stay the course for a while, and see if things don't get better soon. Devin > Hi I'm new to the list. My son is autistic and 4 years old. He has > been GF/CF corn, soy, peanut etc. free for 7 months. Guest guest
Does he go to school? Has anything changed at school? More students in his classroom? Are they feeding him something different? Do you have him on any sort of diet such as Feingold or Failsafe? My son is doing " worse " now, and I think in part it is due to the winter months- - lack of exercise, and also the things that we are feeding him, and the toxins/reactions are building up. I frequently see my son with dark circles under his eyes nowadays. I just got Feingold, haven't implemented it fully-- just at the reading the labels in our house stage. Anyway, those are my thoughts. Hopefully they, or someone else's can help you pinpoint why you are seeing regression. I would also suggest thinking about the garlic and acidophilus making things worse in the sense that if his system is having a hard time processing things right now, your added amount of garlic and acidophilus might not be helping in the way that you had hoped. Perhaps cut back or even give him a few days off of it altogether and see what happens. My son can't take any supplements for more than a few days at a time without us having to give him a break. This is all post-miralax and I plan on following up with an environmental medicine specialist this summer. Guest guest
mary-we homeschool and i have been doing supplements for quite a few years now with no problems....soooooooooooo it is very rare for him to get anything that i don't know about.....just very perplexed about the whole thing....he does usually do worse at different times of the year but since the enzymes he has never complained of not being able to think as he is now.... neva

Winter regression can be associated with phenols. http://www.autismchannel.net/dana/sad.htm Adding supplements, especially probiotics, can cause regression during die off phase. Guest guest
Neva, I know very little about parasites, but the fact that you brought them up made me wonder - do you have pets or livestock? I do know an adult that had a parasite and it caused her a lot of problems (GI problems & appetite) before the doctor/testing found the problem. I assume you've checked all over his room to make sure he hasn't stashed some other foods since you had the Ho-Hos incident. Another thought is whether you are careful about the timing of the enzymes before he eats. > > Hello all- i am sooooooooooooo perplexed. david had been doing so wonderful....he heisted a box of ho ho's about a month ago now (unbeknown to me at the time but figured out later)we wnt through some mildly wierd stuff. however his language seems to be slipping....he is not stopping his talking but seems to be sluring his words as he did pre enzymes, verbal stimming(humming while eating, reenacting parts from tv shows, constant wierd singing), aggressive play, not reading as well, lower concentration and not cleaning himself at all after bm's...and will not allow me to know if he has indeed had a bm.. must rely on my nose. i have asked him to tell me when he has a bm but he has not nor do i think he will. i've been trying to " catch " him but with 2 other kids and 1 on the way i cannot always make it there ... i have increased his garlic and accidolphilus to combat yeast if that is what it is....what about parasites??? he is just plan famished at meal times or just the opposite....even if we have favorite foods.... i really don't have a clue as to what to do.... anyone have any ideas??? thanks neva > > > > > --------------------------------- >

Another > thought is whether you are careful about the timing of the enzymes > before he eats. i am VERY careful about the timing of enzymes....30 min prior...i have an egg timer that we use...david loves it!!! and then i give him only 30min to eat...maybe a bit over protective....but it has worked great up until now... yes we have pets and they have been treated for tapeworms... this is what has me wondering if it may be it...the doc won't test because i have no proof of infestation...(in david) says it is an expensive test andno need to do it.... i ' m trying to find out how to treat kids naturally....i am sure that there is a way but just have to discover it.... and yes went on a MAJOR seek and destroy mission when i relized what happened and did the old grilling where are they... do you have any thing else??? this is another reason i feel that it is yeast because of the sugar....seems to be craving sweets....at least this is the only reason i can figure as to why he'd heist a box of ho ho's...needless to say i told hubby if he wants snacks at work he'll have to get them and take them straight there....not in the house at all...so i just have to figure out what and how to treat first... neva

Hi Neva Some " signs " of infestation with worms would be an itchy nose (and sometimes eyes... the conjunctive). Other than this... sometimes an itchy anus if the infestation is just at the beginning (I'm not sure about this though...) Another good sign would be the fact that when you give him garlic he should feel bad, or simply get crazy, or have a reaction phenol-like (circle under his eyes and all the rest) The fact that you have animals doesn't mean much, because one can get infested with parasites from many-many places! And anyway, most of the time animals have different worms. To test... sometimes won't help if the parasites migrated into who knows what organ (liver for example). You have to test many times. But yes, usually there are different signs and doctors (usually) know how to look for them... Hope this helps some... look for the itchy nose. that's the best sign Valentina

Is this because of being in more enclosed areas > (chemical/dust/mold exposures)? Being inside is one possible reason, for the lack of light but can be the reasons you list also. But Seasonal Affective Disorder [sAD] can be a phenol reaction. I have heard garlic is good for pinworms, not sure about other types of worms tho. Here is my page for ideas for yeast. I just added [but not yet uploaded] a sentence I received from another forum " Other yeast remedies you can consider, are garlic, oregano, uva ursi, and biocidin. Guest guest
Neva, So sorry to hear of your ds's regression. It is always so hard to watch. FWIW, Tom has had several incidents of " spacey type regression " since beginning enzymes last June. Other than the one over Christmas, I've not been able to pinpoint the cause. However, they usually only last 1-2 weeks and then he comes back better than ever. Hope the same holds true for your ds. If possible, I'd check for yeast or bad bacteria. I know these can definitely mask any progress you've made. Please keep us updated. God Bless, Sally > > > > > > I assume you've checked all over his room to make sure he hasn't > > stashed some other foods since you had the Ho-Hos incident. > Another > > thought is whether you are careful about the timing of the enzymes > > before he eats. > > i am VERY careful about the timing of enzymes....30 min prior...i > have an egg timer that we use...david loves it!!! and then i give him > only 30min to eat...maybe a bit over protective....but it has worked > great up until now... yes we have pets and they have been treated for > tapeworms... this is what has me wondering if it may be it...the doc > won't test because i have no proof of infestation...(in david) says > it is an expensive test andno need to do it.... i ' m trying to find > out how to treat kids naturally....i am sure that there is a way but > just have to discover it.... > and yes went on a MAJOR seek and destroy mission when i relized what > happened and did the old grilling where are they... do you have any > thing else??? this is another reason i feel that it is yeast because > of the sugar....seems to be craving sweets....at least this is the > only reason i can figure as to why he'd heist a box of ho > ho's...needless to say i told hubby if he wants snacks at work he'll > have to get them and take them straight there....not in the house at > all...so i just have to figure out what and how to treat first... neva
Guest guest
Just a thought...is he getting ready for another developmental growth spurt? Regression always occurs in my daughter just before she's about to have one.
Guest guest
Hello Tara Is Grace hitting milestones at the moment? Is she teething? Sick maybe? Any of these things can make torticollis come back worse than it was before. Keep streching her neck, and when you get through whatever is causing it at the moment the torticollis will be better again. I know that this is very frustrating, but you have come soo far. Regression is something so rare, that our doc said he has never had a baby regress. I believe he has treated hundreds of kids. You do need to work on the tort though. I know that at 14 months you will not be able to change the way Grace wants to sleep. I know that Willow at 15months would not let me lay her any which way she doesn't want to lay. Good luck on the tort, and like I said, just keep streching. Try the exersise ball. Willow loved it, and we got some good streching in from that in front of the mirror. She would do just about anything to see her chunky self. lol Sandy Willow's Mom Torticollis resolved Cranio germany grad > Hello again- > Here is my updated story- sorry it is a lengthy one. Guest guest
We have been doing alot of medical and therapeutic interventions with our daughter. She has has an MRI and EEG that were both normal. We are not seeing even a very slow gradual development of new skills. She is gains skills and then loses them. We have learned not to count on any new skill sticking. It has been really discouraging. Nobody seems to know what to suggest. She clearly has lost ground over the last couple years, evident in speech testing. We heard about Dr. Goldberg after my husband was diagnosed with auto-immune thyroid disease. We have not yet seen Dr. Goldberg but we just got the form. Has anyone else seen a similar pattern with their child/children? If so, has the approach made a difference? Any other suggestions. We just want to make sure we are not missing something that we could be doing to help her.
