Guest guest
hi there, it is an oft reported mistake made by doctors that they don't check adrenal function before prescribing thyroid hormone - even though it specifically states on the contra- indications on all brands of thyroid hormone that Adrenal issues must be addressed beforehand. I would be prepared to bet that your reaction and that of the other person who posted re these symptoms are a reaction to the thyroid hormone because your adrenal hormones are low. Adrenal function tests will probably be useless unless you are half dead already - you need a doc who will assess your symptoms - or you can check your own at Drrind.com. regards, Kerry Thanks To those who responded, to my request (the shakes) for info, thank you. I don't think it is overmedication as I am just started on the titration phase at 50 mcg/day (I weigh 285 lbs and am 6'5 " so this isn't really that high), though I am sure the next round of TSH tests will show if it is. As to adrenal problems, I am waiting on the test results for pernicious anemia, adrenal dysfunction, and parathyroid dysfunction.
Guest guest
Look into dysautonomia... or HPA axis. One of those areas involve dysregulation like that... You'll find it in regards to CFIDS. Guest guest
Kristy, One of our sons used to have the constant sweaty palms, too, and still does off and on. They felt sort of clammy. One striking situation we noticed in the past was that when he started an antifungal (Nizoral), his palms dried up and were ³normal². We mentioned it to Dr. Goldberg at the time and he said that might be due to the affect that Nizoral has on the adrenal-cortical axis. Just thought you might be interested. Caroline G.
