My son was GFCF for about a year before we switched to the diet.

He was only 4 and not potty trained so I don't know if their was any regression

in that area but he did not lose any other skills or show regressions.

On a side note:

He turns 10 in a few weeks and STILL has problems with BMs. (Dr. G has always

told us not to push the issue but he's not making noticible gains.)

Has anyone had success with BM toilet training with (older) kids? I'm pretty

sure it's a sensory issue for him. Please share what worked for you. Thanks!

Hi ,

The only thing that keeps my son's BMs regular is mineral oil. If I miss a

dose, half the time he ends up having a potty accident (either poop or pee).

When we got his BMs 'regular' with mineral oil, i.e. firm and formed, he

was/is potty trained.

Fiber does not work, water does not work. The one thing we did not try was

MiraLax, which some swear by (but I don't think Dr. G uses). And, since I

worry A LOT about mineral oil (it's a petroleum bi-product), a friend

recently suggested orange juice and olive oil, which I have not tried yet

because my son won't drink OJ.
