She

can patch the baby’s eye for a few hours a day if she wants. When

was that age I would do a lot of dancing and moving around with her

while her eye was patched to encourage her to move it. Or had the sibs move around while

acting silly so she would track them.

Despite

all that patching, she is going to be having surgery on her eyes to tighten up

the muscle.

Sometimes

it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

The

mom should take baby to a ped ophthalmologist for a good check up and follow

up.

Re: baby formulas

This Mom most definitely needs to be

concerned RIGHT NOW! I have lazy eye and it is horrible. I was patched as a

kid but no one really enforced it so I removed the patch when I was out of

my mothers site/at school. My 'good' eye is weakening now and its really

scary. I also have a 9yo son with same thing. No one found his until it was

too late - pretty much for him. He should have been patched along time ago.

The earlier it is caught the better chance there is to be able to correct

it. Maybe 5 mon. is too early but from where I sit if it was my baby I

would seriously consider it - no matter what the Dr. says. You can buy eye

patches at any drug store.

I've know people like this... yes they use a patch

to make the eye work harder.. I believe there are exercises too...

but not at her age yet.

What do you all think of this and do you have

any alternate ideas.
