I just downloaded a Complete Guide to Testing for Lymes. It's a pdf file that

can be found oat www.liafoundation.org Both me and my two boys appear to have

many of the symptoms of Lyme's, although my boys have no history tick bites and

very few mosquito bites as well. (Mosquitos are though to transmit the virus as

well). However, if the mother had lymes when she was pregnant, she could've

passed it to the baby. It's very interesting brochure and it explains about

falser negatives and the various tests.

Good luck,

I am no expert on Lyme and don't even suspect it for my family, but if you

do suspect it and the first test comes back negative, try and try again. I

have heard the first test(s) often (is) are false positives.

After finding the article on Lyme Disease and Autism, I have done some

research and have read that joint pain is also found in people who

carry Lyme. I am going to have both my daughter and I tested. It

won't hurt and it would be better to rule out. I have just been so

tired and am not waking up refreshed. The joint thing is new and

rather annoying. Just thinking out loud.

The thing that helped me the most was normalizing my stools, cutting

out all fiber as it was preventing me from absorbing nutrition from

foods unbeknownst to me and changing my diet to one with the right

fats and more protein - initially in easy to digest foods and chew

well. I also ate smaller portions...basically I followed the advice

on a site called Fiber Menace and in his book. Worked SO well...the

weight from three back to back c sections just sort of melted away, I

am able to live low carb now without troublesome constipation issues

etc, have more energy WAY less pain, brain fog from throwing my cody

into constant digestion and elimination is now gone...I always

thought it was yeast, parasites, etc etc...read the net and it is

easy to go there...then I stumbled across this forensic nutritionists

site...and tried his approach and whatever it really was it resolves

itself with diet changes, teaching your body to be regular again and

to normalize the size and frequency of your stools - he explains what

you are eliminating means...

Anyway, good luck...check out his work and see if anything

clicks...all that you describe was improper diet leading to gut

issues and malabsorption leading to spec vit and mineral

deficiencies...Di and

All of this joint pain info. is very interesting to me! A few years ago, I had

horrible pain/stiffness in my knees and went through arthritis testing, which

didn't show up. Then, it sort of " went away " . It has reared it's ugly head a

time or two since then. What are you saying is the cause of this pain exactly?

Very interested-- Is it viral? From: Argie Olivo <golivo@...>Subject:

everyone,My son is finally over his urinary issues. Now we have a another

problem. Our daughter has always had issues with her bones hurting, especially

her shins, knees, legs and sometimes her arms, since she was about 5 years old,

she'll be 13 in October. All the lab work is normal, even forarthritis. The

sports medicine/ Orthopedic doctor also said she's okay. Now my son started with

the same issues, he's complained in the past that his right arm hurts( last

couple of months), and yesterday and today it's his left knee.We are doing great

on the protocol, but the bone pain is worrying us. Has anyone experienced

that same issues, and how do they treat it? What doctor did you go see?We have

any appointment with Dr. G next week I'll ask him then as well.Thank you in

advance everyone!Argie[Non-text portions of this message have been

Hi -

Yes, joint pain can coincide w/CFS - in fact, pain (either gut, headaches, or

joint pain) are one of the diagnostic criteria.

In my experience, joint and/or muscle pain often comes after illness or

something else (ie foods) that set off the immune system.  It can last a while

but have zero findings in labs.  I just treat for comfort and it passes with

time.  For adults, doxycycline can be very helpful.

I think it's a revved up immune system, so whatever we can do to cool that off

helps the pain.

Re: Pain!

All this joint pain is so intriguing to me because the last few days

my knees have been killing me! My little one can't talk yet, but I'm

wondering if she is experiencing the same thing. I remember being

young and having pain that was so excruciating, it would wake me up

and I would have to take tylenol and a super hot bath to numb the

sensation.

I was thinking about getting blood drawn for CFS b/c I have been

exhausted. Does joint pain coincide with CFS?

Hi, I was just curious as to what CFS stands for. My son has been

having really bad joint pain recently.

Thanks,

Dianne

it's funny you should mention the headaches. I have been having

headaches on and off for the last couple of days and yesterday my

headaches were so bad I thought I was going to have a migraine. I

popped a few aleve to help with the pain. Can you direct me to any

other good sites. I guess I should start doing some research and I

should also modify my diet too.

CFS = Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.  Also referred to as CFIDS - Chronic Fatigue

Immune Dysfunction Syndrome - what most of the researchers call it now.

Dr Goldberg's hypothesis is based on 25+ years of CFIDS research, and the

similarities to 'autism' and CFIDS are staggering (the biggest difference just

being age of onset), and the incidence in mothers w/history of CFS is high too,

as well as other immune dysfunctions.

I was wondering if anybody who has Pacific Care HMO insurance was able to

get Valtrex paid for for a 4 yr old? If so what was your experince with the

insurance company? Did they deny you first or did they approve you right

away?

Do you currently have PacifiCare HMO? If so, their drug formulary is online and

you can check the level of coverage. Just keep in mind that insurance companies

can deny if it is off label use or not approved for use in children even if it's

listed in their formulary. Obviously, if it's being used to eliminate or reduce

a viral titers then it wouldn't be an off label use. Where we ran into a problem

was with Imitrex. My then 7 year old was having debilitating migraines, but the

insurance company still wouldn't pay, even with a letter from his peds neuro.

Luckily for us, MediCal paid.

Hey there -

I'm sorry, but I don't really know many good sites to direct you to.  You could

check out co-cure.org, and the IACFSME sites to see if there is much on

headaches.

Diet changes can be helpful for migraines.  Then there's the child who I'm still

stunned has improved so much on the protocol from migraines and cyclical

vomiting syndrome - that one still blows my mind.  Being healthier and having

infections limited can go a long way in helping w/the chronic headaches.  I just

don't study it much, because I'm just not prone to them, although I get all the

other hurts.

I do get migraine visuals, but mostly I get the bad tension headaches at the

base of my neck and thru my jaw (like TMJ), and back pain, joint pain, etc, but

once it gets bad, I get a 60 mg Toradol shot & that knocks it out for at least a

month, and sometimes it just knocks the pain away for good - all over my body.

(Usually if I'm hurting in one place, I'm hurting in many, because I know it's

inflammation).  It's an NSAID but it's the most powerful tool against pain I've

ever found, way more than any pill (even Toradol pills - not very effective).

Oddly, doctors practically NEVER think to offer them, but most of them have it

on hand (for like, back injuries I think), and I've never had one denied if I

specifically requested it, and neither has anyone else I've referred for one.

Most docs are on alert when you're complaining to someone new about pain that

can't be visualized in a test, watching to see if you're a drug seeker, but the

moment you

ask for Toradol, they seem to be more willing to help.

BTW - if any of you try a Toradol shot, two things:  don't accept less than 60

mg (they sometimes give 30mg) - it's useless.  And most importantly, DO NOT HAVE

THE SHOT ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.  EVER.  Excruciating.  Either eat immediately

(within 20 minutes) or better yet, take a snack and eat 10 minutes or so

before.  Trust me here.       This shot is usually excellent for all those joint

pains, and the muscle pains, and the TMJ headaches and tension headaches.

Anyone I've ever recommended them to who got them asked for them again if/when

the pain returned.   Too bad our kids can't get them, but they can be rough on

the liver.  I never had problems, and when my pain was the worst I was getting

them monthly.  Now I may only need one every couple of years.

Cheryl....Could it be that the turkey you ate was bad?  I've never gotten anything stuck but then I was previously banded and I already knew the drill on chewing, etc. Also, for the first 6 months you might have food intolerances that you will not have in six months.  Your stomach is still going through its own learning curve in a way.

I guess I'm not clear on why you didn't have extreme symptoms right away.  If I eat too much I know NOW, everything is gone within a couple of hours (symptoms).  I can't figure out what could cause problems the next day.  I wonder if you ate bad turkey?  Or it did not agree with you this early out?

Hi everyone. On Saturday evening I had some turkey. I thought I chewed it up ok but on sunday I woke up not feeling very well. I tried to eat something and had a horrible pain in my lower chest. As the day progressed I started to get flu like symptoms; body hurts, prickley skin, a little jittery (no fever, yet). I can drink liquid, and as long as I take small drinks the pain is not to bad, but a big drink brings on the pain. I think there is some food stuck. Has anyone experienced this before or have any suggestions on what it might be? Thank you for any help.
