Guest guest
Hello- We were going to start the SCD diet also and had an appt with a very good dietician who works with ASD kids and is minded in her own approach. I guess nuts have high phenal levels (SP?!) in them. Enough phenals she said feed viruses. I think she said macedamia nuts have the lowest levels. Thought I would pass this on as it is not anything I knew myself and my son has definite viral issues also. Angie
Guest guest
No, it’s not a protein diet. It’s most veggies, fruits that they tolerate, fish, ckn, beef. You can read more about it at pecanbread.com and buying the book breaking the viscous cycle (the science is explained very well on what this diet is based on; great book!). We are on scd, helped my son so much, but not sure how we’ll transition to Dr. G’s diet (our first appt is next tues with him in CA). We’ve been on it for 1 ½ years and no matter what I’ll never go back to processed gfcfsf foods, I think that was our problem…I didn’t cook enough from scratch while on that diet and my son ended up with crohn’s disease at age 3. Big gut kiddo, so that’s one of our issues beside bac/viral issues. With SCD you cook a ton, but it’s great to know you’re providing your child with great organic (if you choose to do organic), wholesome foods. Harder to do if there’s an egg allergy, but we use duck eggs, so that helps too. Also, they do use nuts, but you can absolutely get away with not using them; we barely do. You can use coconut too. Hope that helps a little. Check on the book on amazon, I think you can look through some chapters online for free. kathi From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of autism.fight@...
