spectrum disorders (ASDs). What have IAN families told us about skill

Our thanks to all of you for sharing your family's experience to help

researchers learn more about these important issues.

We would also like to thank everyone who has completed the new Parental

Depression History Questionnaire. If you haven't yet completed it,

please consider doing so. Researchers are waiting to access this data in

order to explore questions about the stress faced by parents raising a

child with an ASD, as well as any possible biological link between mood

disorders and specific types of autism. (If there is one, it would be an

important clue to understanding and treating both types of

disorder.) The questionnaire was developed with the help of parent

volunteers in response to the interest expressed by families and

researchers alike when we first showed that the number of parents

reporting depression in IAN was much higher than expected.
