We have been seeing Dr. G for 8yrs and I have always seen other families in

there with more than one child. Bring your daughter, I am positive that that

will not be an issue because most people have more than one child these days.

Good luck!! (:

have no relatives on the west coast. Is Dr. G understanding of that.

Does anyone have ideas of childcare, maybe just somebody to bring to the

appointment with us? I am wondering what others have done with siblings?

Siblings are *always* welcome there! I'm always there with both of

my kids. It's also good for him to see how the siblings interact.

We've been with Dr.G since Oct 2002 and when we visited him last summer we had a

new addition for the first time. It is no problem to bring along another child.

Dr. G even observed that our second son, then 19 months old, was showing a bit

of " allergy eyes " and was concerned. It must have been something in the air

there because he sneezed as soon as we walked out of the airport, had a runny

nose at Knott's the day before, and had never shown allergy symptoms before

that. Also, Dr. G will give to you tips on what to do (and not do) to protect

younger siblings.

Definitely, yes, siblings are welcome. I have three boys--two of whom see Dr. G.

My third and youngest is a whirlwind and reminds me of Taz in the Looney Tunes

cartoon. Dr. G always addresses all of my boys and includes them in

conversations about how they can help their brothers get better. At our last

appointment, he assigned my little Taz with the task of playing games with older

brother to help his social interaction.

There's a play room with toys in the waiting room. Dr. G comes out in the

waiting room to talk with us before examining the kids, so that they can

continue to play. (FYI . . . He only does that if there isn't anyone else in the

waiting room).

Good luck with your appointment.

All the best,

Robyn

How funny....one of my son's nicknames is " Taz " , too, after the cartoon,

usually at a birthday party or other 'event'. I also joke that he is both

the tortoise AND the hare ;-)

I echo that sibs are welcomed at Dr. G's, and he has a pretty

fun-for-young-kids toy-filled waiting area.

,

I had a 10 month old nursing baby who screamed the through about half of an

initial appointment. Dr. Goldberg was very kind... I¹m sure it wasn¹t

optimal for him (it sure wasn¹t for us), but he understood. We had left two

behind with grandparents, but that wasn¹t an option with the baby.

You could always ask to make sure it¹s still OK.

I know what you mean by the tortoise and the hare. Very funny! I'm always

telling people I need to have my little one lo-jacked.

Thank you to everyone for your feedback on the siblings. It is nice

that he is understanding about that. My 11 month old is not taz yet but

is well on her way (VERY ACTIVE and into everything) so she will demand

plenty of attention!!

I always bring snacks, but I hold off giving it to my little Taz until Dr. G is

ready to see us. That way he's quiet and busy (the only thing that stops the

running is eating, so he can recharge and run some more!)

Good luck.

We travel to Dr. G from San Diego. Sometimes we are going to arrive much

earlier than I anticipate, so I call Dr. G's office right before we get

there and ask how far off our appointment time will actually be (some days

he runs waaaaay behind) and decide then whether to hit a playground or

shopping mall, or go and hope his play area is entertaining for a long time.

Once when we visited, he needed his lobby area to meet with a family, so we

got stuck back in an exam room for quite a while (even though it was not our

appointment time).

I do appreciate that he gives my son all the time he needs when are at our

appointment, as he does for other families.
