Guest guest
Hey - Oh yes, that is perfectly fine to have a month - it's actually pretty aggressive to check so frequently. And even if liver profiles rise, depending on the severity (I think only 2 kids in many years have had to eventually be pulled off of an antifungal due to liver elevations which resolved with no problems), usually it can be monitored for some time before a decision is made to change. In my experience with myself and both of my boys, our liver levels were mildly elevated before the meds, and went down after starting the meds. It actually really helped their bodies. The antivirals are quite safe. And the benefit to their body can be extraordinary. I hope you will find a comfortable place soon where you see these as extraordinary health-giving meds that are a blessing to be able to receive. When you see your child's eyes begin to brighten (this takes time) and their energy perk up (and settle down if they're extremely hyper) and lots of other wonderful developments, the difference can be amazing. They just LOOK healthier. I personally am biding my time to get my youngest (just turned 7) back on antivirals because he has not been feeling well - having problems with chronic fatigue. Worry not. Your child is in good hands! HTH- new here, valtrex & blood tests? Hi, We just met Dr. Goldberg yesterday. My son is 6 and was dx w/ autism at age 2. We received a RX for Valtrex. Im feeling some fears though. Our next appt is in one month. Is that soon enough to test for liver and kidney function after starting Valtrex? Thanks, mom to Jasen
Guest guest
Do not fear Valtrex. It is a very benign drug and Dr. G is very careful that all the drugs used in these children have no damaging or harmful effectson their growing brains and bodies. I say this confidently because one of my children was being treated for Tourette like symptoms when I met Dr. Goldberg 3 years ago. He did not want to refill the drug that the doctor in Dallas had prescribed because of the potential side effects of heart related problems. Trust the process and you will see the miracle happen...I promise! > > Hi, > > We just met Dr. Goldberg yesterday. My son is 6 and was dx w/ autism at age 2. We > received a RX for Valtrex. Guest guest
I have two sons on the protcol, and Dr. G carefully monitors bloodwork. Much to my older son's dismay, there are blood test every other month. Good luck. Robyn slmk67 <slmk67@...> wrote: Do not fear Valtrex.
