Guest guest
, Could it be Raynaud's phenomenon? I don¹t know much about it, but that¹s what came to mind when I read the description. It is triggered by cold sometimes. I¹m not sure that sounds quite like Raynaud¹s, but if you Google it you could find out more. Good luck... why do all our kids have to be the ones to have these bizarre ailments? Our son¹s ped. just told him that at least he¹s an interesting patient ;0) Caroline G. It was wierd, and it went away in less than an hour (except for tight sensation in knuckles - still getting better too) after Benedryl. I'm wondering if it's post-infectious (he's been sick 10 days) or if it's a reaction to Omnicef that he started yesterday afternoon. It would be wierd to take an antibiotic at around 5pm yesterday and then have a spontaneous reaction to it at 10:30 the next morning though. I'm just struggling to decide whether to give it again or not. I don't want to be up at the doctor 3rd time this week (over Spring Break no less ) without there being any obvious symptom remaining. Anyway - just wondering if anyone else has had that. Thanks-
Guest guest
I would think he's having a reaction to the Omnicef. I would call your doc before giving more. Sounds like a classic allergic reaction to me and it can be delayed like that. chery On Mar 20, 2008, at 10:52 AM, wrote: > Hi all- > > Anyone have their kid start complaining of itching on > their knuckles and itching between their fingers, then > within 30 minutes their hands be bright red (and > white) and burning w/swollen joints? > > It was wierd, and it went away in less than an hour > (except for tight sensation in knuckles - still > getting better too) after Benedryl. > > I'm wondering if it's post-infectious (he's been sick > 10 days) or if it's a reaction to Omnicef that he > started yesterday afternoon. Guest guest
Hi , Could it be from contact with something like hand-sanitizer, soap, lotion, sand, playdough, bee sting/bug bite, etc.????? I have had that on my hand from contact with a substance that didn't agree with me. Washing my hands and putting on a soothing lotion helped, too. My son had an allergic reaction to amoxicillin on day 8 of 10. I have heard of at least 3 other children having the same reaction, and they are all typical but prone to sensitivities. Is your child a patient of Dr. G? If so, I would call their office and get their opinion. Guest guest
I have Raynaud's. That isn't a symptom, as far as I'm aware. Guest guest
when I get Raynaud's my fingertips are WHITE---at least initially. There is tingling--but not itching--later, they might get red. Also, I don't think of joint swelling as happening with Raynauds (at least mine) ann On Thu, Mar 20, 2008 at 1:21 PM, Caroline Glover <sfglover@...> wrote: > , > > Could it be Raynaud's phenomenon? > > I don¹t know much about it, but that¹s what came to mind when I read the > description. Guest guest
Thanks Kristy, I¹m glad you know more it about than I do... I didn¹t have time to look into it more before posting (I¹m in an Easter panic). I have a niece that has it but it¹s been a long time since I first heard about it. Caroline G.
