Guest guest
Carole, The links below are from a website I love... here¹s the link to the site... http://labtestsonline.org/ You can click on the tabs that say ³at a glance², ³test sample², etc. for more information. Sedimentation Rate (also called sed rate)... See this link... http://labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/esr/sample.html ANA Titer... See this link... http://labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/ana/test.html Ferritin Level See this link... http://labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/ferritin/glance.html The list of the tests Dr. Goldberg likes to run initially is here... http://www.neuroimmunedr.com//Proposed_Work-Up_/proposed_work-up_nid s.html .... those tests along (along with a child¹s medical history) will give Dr. G. plenty of info for the first appointment. If he wants any other tests, he¹ll order them. Sometimes Dr. G. likes an ASO titer but that may be something he gets later. Tell your daughter to be sure to mention the strep history at the appointment (although if it¹s in the medical history Dr. G will surely have noted it). Don¹t stress about having everything done at the first appointment, as Dr. Goldberg only starts one med at a time... he¹s VERY slow and methodical about starting and stopping meds (as he should be.... I wish more docs were so careful). That way it is so much easier to judge the effect each med is having on a child. Your daughter will find that she is placing her son in very capable hands. By the way, Dr. Goldberg has always kindly allowed us to audiotape appointments. It is wonderful to have the tape so that one review what he said later. If your daughter does not have a tape recorder, helping her come up with one would be a great way to help her out. The initial appointment can be several hours long, so be sure to have extra batteries and extra tape! I remember being mentally exhausted when I came out of the first appointment. I called my husband and told him that I felt as though I¹d just been given an encyclopedia on my son. I had a hard time remembering it all (and I had missed some things in my notes)... I was SO glad to have the tape. Best wishes, Caroline

How old is your son how has Dr. Goldberg helped him? Has he had problems with Strep or PANDAS? My grandson has Regressive Autism PDD 3 yrs ago was in a regular class room. Has not been able to go to any school, homeschool, therapies no interest in playing We are praying Dr. Goldberg will be able to help this little boy enjoy life again. I know this won`t happen overnite. We did the DAN protocol for 3 yrs. this just didn`t work for him. We live in Ohio our pediatrition wouldn`t look at test results or any info on Dr. Goldberg So disguising they don`t seem interested. Thanks Again Carole > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi - With the strep issues, make sure you get an ASO titer. With the chronic yeast & strep & PANDAS, you'll also want to try to make sure to get the Immune Panel with total & percent CD4/CD8, 16/56 etc (see the workup that the link was sent to you). That is an expensive lab - make sure you send the list in advance to something like the Children's Hospital's lab & have an experienced tech combine the other labs before you arrive. They can combine tests in the same tube if you get a senior tech who really knows what they are doing. But that's the lab that will look at the % of Natural Killer cells, which is often low in PANDAS. Not always, but often. Getting the right immune panel is important, since it's pretty expensive, and make sure that you find out if they are sending it out to another lab, and what the time frame is ... like we can't get one done here on a Friday - it has to go to a nearby university to be done, and it won't be done on the weekend, and will be too old by Monday. We once had it ordered at Quest Labs, and it didn't get sent for processing in time, so it was left off. My kids LOVED the flight. Hope it works out for you well. HTH- What test before apt. with Dr. Goldberg? Posting for my daughter they have an apt with Dr. Goldberg July 31st Trying to get everything in order. She is coming from Ohio. Wanting to make sure all testing is done that is needed. She sent records from past yrs. & most recent. We see The most important test: All should be done before apt. What is Sedimentation Rate, ANA Titer, Ferritin Level? Should any other testing be done as well? He does have chronic strep bacterial & yeast problems for years. Major OCD problems We feel he has PANDAS. Thyroid problems. Was on DAN protocol for 3 yrs. this did not work for him. Lots of aggression getting more frequent. So very difficult for the family. Also worried about the flight out their. Praying he will not have a melt down while in plane Any suggestions appreciated Carole
