Guest guest
Hi - My youngest son had a lot of gut problems. From 2 weeks after he was born until he was 18months old, he would wake every 20 min to an hour, maybe at best an hour & a half, screaming in pain. They thought reflux but the meds never helped him. The protocol resolved it rather rapidly. He responded very well and very rapidly to Diflucan. I think he had mild esophageal yeast and that his lining was inflammed in reaction to it. I get the same (I think, since it resolves on antifungals), and it is painful. And it can easily be mistaken as heart burn/reflux, look like it on a scope, and respond slightly to heartburn meds. I also have a lot of gut and stomach problems, and I'm prone to gastritis. That is inflammation of the stomach, it's very painful, hard to eat, and when it really flares, it will make me vomit. I also cannot digest well when this is going on either - and if this is the same with your child, he may not absorb nutrients very well with chronic inflammation, either. Resolve one, and the other will improve. The only thing that has ever completely resolved the pain in my stomach over the last two years is liquid Benedryl (dye-free only). I sip about 1/4 tsp when I start feeling the sensation, and I'll add more in half an hour if it isn't better. When the gastritis is acute (and yes, it will go up the esophagus and feels a lot like really wicked heart burn), I may have to take 1/4 - 1/2 tsp every hour all day for a couple of days until it eases up, but since I catch it early now, it no longer gets severe. I would urge you to try this for a few days. It really sounds like there is something very inflammatory going on. If so, any med or food could aggrevate it. If the Famvir could be irritating it, you can give the 1/4 tsp Benedryl about 20 minutes prior to giving the meds. But the antivirals can go a very long towards cooling off the immune system, which in turn would help gastritis and IBS. Gosh - reading that, I really think it may be gastritis. Does he have a lot of stomach pain after he eats - just under the ribs? And does it worsen when it's time to move into the intestines? I could be wrong since there's not much detail... just sounds very similar. HTH- please lemme know. No harm will come from the Benedryl, and the tiny doses will keep from affecting him (either very sleepy or very hyper). been on Famvir now for about a week anHelp...our son got very sick last night... Our son has been on Famvir now for about a week and a half. He ahs been very responding to it very well. He had a runny nose and a couple days of grouchiness and whining, but other than that, nothing big or bad...last ight when we put him to bed he seemed king of inclined to sit up, he didn't want to lay down...tht always worries me sa to acid reflux since Matt is a kid with BAD cut troubles - think Inflamatory Bowel Disease bad. We lett him look t books and eventually he fell asleep about 10 pm...at one am we heard crying. I rushed in and there was vomit everywhere. My son doesn't eat very much bc everything causes him so much pain...he ate the same dinner last night sa always two pieces of chicken...he does not want to eat anything. He is skin and bones and we are scared to death. Can Famvir make a child nauseous? Golberg seemst o think that everything will be okay sooner or later, but our son's gut is such a mess and he looks like a starving child - other kids with this diagnosis do NOT look like Matt. PLEASE - if there are any GUT KID parents - please advise us on how and what your kid could eat and handle...and if this protocol helped or not. Guest guest
I, too, suffer like with stomach issues. I have had to cut out all fried foods and those high in fat (ribs, full-fat dairy, etc.), and it has helped immensely (I would spend hours vomiting, and ended up in the ER twice before I figured it out). When I do have issues, I have a homeopathic remedy that works wonders and in just a few minutes (silicea 30 c is the one that works for me). I tend to have the worse problems during times of high stress (like a few months ago when my grandma was dying AND my son was in a major regression, not the usual stress of my full life). Simple digestive enzymes help, as well. I love whole grains and broccoli, but they usually leave me doubled over in pain without either enzymes or silicea. I worked with a homeopath to heal my son's gut. We're in San Diego and a lot of our friends have been sick with either a stomach bug or a cold. Maybe your son is sick and it's not related to the Famvir? Guest guest
I also have a 8 year old son with severe stomach issues, he has been with DR.G for a month. We heard about activated charco caps- total lifesaver. You can get them at any CVS pharmacies. Good luck, Anecke > > I, too, suffer like with stomach issues. Guest guest
What kind of diet is he on now? How long has he had problems like this with his stomach and with the vomiting? I know someone who was VERY sick at a young adult age and she did the body ecology diet and have known others with chrons and ulcerative colitis that have had huge success from it. I think a focus of it is to really rest the gut and heal it. She did keep it grain free for a long time also. I am sure you can google it. It is about combining foods correctly also for better digestion. It does allow for healthy high fat foods also I believe, as your son sounds very thin. Hope you get some information to help your son. angie From: diatplay <diatplay@...> Subject: been on Famvir now for about a week anHelp...our son got very sick last night...
