Guest guest
Anyone have fever, nausea and vomiting while on Valtrex? Trying to figure out if my son's symptoms are a flu, side effects or possible die off. He started Valtrex on Saturday. TIA, Robyn
Guest guest
These are all common die off symptoms but you should still call Dr. G's office to let him know in case he wants to change the dose or change meds. Also, make sure you are washing off the blue dye. Cheryl On Apr 16, 2008, at 9:17 AM, Robyn wrote: > Anyone have fever, nausea and vomiting while on Valtrex? Guest guest
Hey Robyn Here in Alabama, there has been a vicious tummy virus going around that lasts around 11 days and an even longer recovery period where everyone still feels bad. It has been going around about 4 weeks and hasn't let up yet. It has fever, nausea, vomitting, then it lets up, lets you think you're better, then 2-3 days later you run a fever again and start having fluid/swelling over joints. Nausea can happen w/Valtrex in a wicked die-off, but your son's sounds a bit fierce. The fever suggests illness, and it could be possible that the Valtrex has 'stirred up' a virus ... BUT more likely, the timing is coincidence and he has gotten sick at the same time. The worst of a die-off lasts a few days then improves over 2 weeks. This virus does too. The fever is the biggest suggestion that he's sick instead of reacting. I lean toward a bug but then I'm not there. While you're sorting this out, I don't think he's at 'risk' from the Valtrex even if that was the cause, but I'd still report it to the doc. Poor baby...and poor mama.
