Guest guest
Hi, . I have two sons on the protocol. My oldest, 9, is Asperger's and my middle son, 8, has mild/moderate autism. My middle son started Dr. G's protocol in February, with my other son starting in April. My middle son has severe health issues, including a condition called Cyclical Vomiting Syndrom (vomiting for a about a week every month), debilitating migraines and a seizure disorder. We had tried some biomedical interventions, including GFCF, with no change in behavior, health or functioning level. Last December we took him off all supplements with the exception of multivitamins and began to implement the diet, so we would be fully prepared to begin the rest of the protocol. He started on Valtrex in February. About 5-6 weeks into it, his Cycical Vomiting and migraines went completely away. We had been living with monthly bouts of vomiting and severe migraines preceding and following the vomiting episodes. I was constantly picking him up from school or keeping him home. His peds gastro at UCLA told us he would probably have CVS and the migraines for the rest of his life. He hasn't had a migraine or an episode of CVS since April. It was nothing short of a miracle for us. He is happier, more focused. His social skills and language are improving as well. The kids went back to school this past Monday and Noah's one on one aide couldn't believe the change in him since June. He's much more calm and his self stimulatory behavior is practically nonexistent. My older son was more mildly affected, but we could see he was falling behind socially and academically every year. He's a very intellligent kid, but practical, everyday things he struggles with and he has a lot of difficulty keeping himself organized. You could also stand in the same room with him, shouting his name at the top of his lungs and he wouldn't " hear " you. He, too, has a seizure disorder. His attention and organizational skills have improved over the last month. He is able to grasp concepts that are not concrete, which is something he's struggled with. We're not where we want to be with either of the boys yet, but this is a journey and we're in it for the long haul. I thank God we found and Dr. G. I really believe the HHV6 virus was doing some major damage, especially to Noah. It's no coincidence that his migraines and CVS, which is considered a neurological disorder, are gone and we've been able to reduce his seizure med to one dose a day. I hope this helps you feel more comfortable about your decision regarding . I just wish I'd found it sooner. All the best, robyn From: bekeleelizabeth <bekeleelizabeth@...> Subject: New to group-need feed back Date: Saturday, August 16, 2008, 11:26 PM Hi group, I'm getting ready to make an appointment with Dr. Goldberg and am just looking for some feed back if the protocol has helped your child tremendously. anyone close to recovery etc??? I'll give a little background of my son. He's 9 with ASD. We've been on the biomed road since he was 3 for about 4yrs with little or no results. Then we tried homeopath for one year with no gains. A mom recomended we try protocol so here we are! I'm really hoping we'll get some gains after treatment with this protocol. My son's major issues are communication( only communicates needs with 3-4 words), focusing/attention deficit, not learning, doesn't write or read but loves to be read to on his good days. Unsocial/isolated. Regressed with toilet training after we did chelation at the age of 6. He has to be timed in the daytime or else he'll just do it wherever he's sitting and not recognize it, which concerns me a lot. He mostly goes for bm himself in the daytime but in the morning if he still has his nightime pullups on, he will go on it. It's very frustrating to see him do that at this age! My son also walks around all day with his fingers behind his earlobes. Sometimes pressing it so hard like something is painful. This has been going on for over a year and getting worse and no doc can tell what it is. He's been to 5 or 6 ENT's and we're told no problem with ears etc. Just recently he went thru and MRI and the result showed everything normal except some signs of Sinus, so the regular ped treated him with antibiotic but no improvement. We thought that was the key for his ear issue?? I made an appointment with a sinus specialist and we'll see what he'll say? Anyway, sorry about the long story! I wanted to ask if anyone had a similar experience and helped your child or if you saw a dramatic change after the protocol?? How old was your child when you started etc. Please send words of encouragement? Thank you so much for your time. God bless
Guest guest
This is just related to sensory if he has issues with this as well. We are also starting . HANDLE has helped my son with sensory issues, if your son has any. It is different from OT and PT, see www.handle.org.
