Guest guest
There is a clinic in ny that uses dr Goldberg protocols http://www.nidsnnyclinic.org/ Natasa x ------ Forwarded Message From: nomilou <nomilou@...> Reply-< > Date: Fri, 12 Sep 2008 03:07:51 -0000 < > Subject: New to group--and lots of questions I'm new the the group, and this is my first day to even read about , so I'm more than a novice. My son is 18 (much older than most of your children) and has just been seen by a neuropsychologist. His diagnosis was PDD-NOS, anxiety and depressive disorders, among others. He said it was so hard for anyone to diagnose because it's higher on the scale than usual and he could " hide " his disabilities from the professionals. That doctor wants us to take him to an endocrinologist to rule out dysautonomia. He is high functioning; talks, walks, reads, built a high end computer on his own over the summer. He was mainstreamed until 7th grade, but social anxiety got the best of him. He would rather stay in his room on the bed. We have " instruction in the home " which has had limited success. He has been hospitalized so many times; he was diagnosed with Conversion Disorder at age 10 when he was completely paralyzed for 6 weeks. This was following a severe ear infection. He had a dramatic recovery and began walking again, although he struggled when tired. He relapsed three years in a row, becoming wheelchair bound. He has been walking now without assistive devices for four years. He also has gut dysmotility--and has had BM and urinary accidents forever. He has continual belly pain which increases when he eats. He has a cecostomy, but hasn't used it in a year. That was an extreme amount of information. Sorry! Now my questions: How does one get in touch with Dr. G? Is Dr. G the only doctor to treat kids? Has anyone ever tried the diet with a near-adult? Did Dr. G do endocrine testing on your child? Where is Dr. G located? We are in Pennsylvania, not far from Philadelphia, NYC, Washington/Baltimore. Are there any doctors around the east coast? Do kids have sleep disorders? Our son sometimes sleeps 15-20 hours at a time, and then is awake for long stretches, too. I'm sure I will have hundreds more questions as I read and learn. The little bit I have seen seems to make so much sense. Our son was " normal " up until the onset of illness at 10 yrs. He has made little progress academically, and has lost some skills. When he feels worst, he growls instead of talking. We have been dealing with " disorders " for so long. Doctors just give up and send him someplace else. He is very fearful of treatments. I would love so much to hear some good news from someone. ------ End of Forwarded Message
