Guest guest
Dr. G does take some PPO insurance. Have you called to see if your insurance company is one of them. If so it's just your copay amount. We are in the Los Angeles area and see Dr. G once per month. Guest guest
If you're in LA and can see him personally then you just pay your copay if he takes your insurance. If not then your initial appointment will be $385 plus the cost of labs - most of which can be done through your local lab so again, shouldn't cost you anything with the exception of the IgG test which is $199 (they don't take insurance so that's out of pocket no matter what). Subsequent appointments are $185 whether it's in office or on the phone. So it's much cheaper if you have an insurance he takes but otherwise, his rates are still quite reasonable when you compare it to others. To make the initial appointment there is a $200 fee for processing all the medical records you send into the computer and reviewing for Dr. G. You pay this *before* your first appointment. Your first appointment you can expect to cost $585 (plus the phlebotomy fee for the IgG test - probably around $30) if you get your labs locally. I suggest you print out the list of labs to pull and do them before your appointment so you don't have to wait for it. cheryl On Jul 16, 2008, at 7:22 PM, Natalia Ibbott wrote: > I'm trying to figure out expenses with coming up first appointment > with > Dr.G. Guest guest
When considering the expense to see Dr. G there are a number of things to take into account. I live in Texas and go to see Dr. G once a year. When we see him in person, we just pay a copay (plus travel expenses of course). The labwork every 6 weeks are completely covered. The phone consults once/4-6 weeks are not. They are $185. However, when you work with Dr. G and he diagnoses your child, we have found it easier to get insurance to pay for things such as speech therapy. If your child has a PDD or autism diagnosis, insurance will reject payment because those are " neurological " disorders that one can not recover from. They consider it a waste of their resources. If your child has a medical diagnosis instead of neurological, insurance is more apt to pay. In my opinion, Dr. G is well worth the money. We've blown thousands on listening programs etc that were supposed to help my son and we didn't see benefit. With Dr. G, the science is sound and the progress is clear. On a side note, we keep reciepts for his meds and our travel expenses to get to and from CA, and statements for consults and therapy. We deduct these expenses (minus what insurance pays) from our taxes every year. You may want to check and see if this is a possibility for you as well. Hope this helps, April Re: How expensive is to see Dr.G? If you're in LA and can see him personally then you just pay your copay if he takes your insurance. Guest guest
I thought insurance denied coverage for PDD/autism related services because they were considered by most insurance companies psychological in nature, and therefore not medical.
