Guest guest
Hi. Dr. Goldberg recommended that we contact Dr. Silton and make an appointment with her. If anyone has seen Dr. Silton, could you please email me offlist. I would like to know more about her. Thanks. Lynn

Guest guest
Wow, that is pricey, but I'm sure it's worth it. I feel as if Noah should be more healthy and the virus a little more under control before we do something like that. I am looking into an assessment for auditory processing. Thanks, Robyn > >> > >>> Hi. > >>> > >>> Dr. Goldberg recommended that we contact Dr. > Silton > >> and make an > >>> appointment with her. Guest guest
I don't remember but I think someone posted it on the list once so it should be in the archives. It was a lot. I think someone said all told, they ended up paying $3500 - 4000 for the whole assessment and consultation. Guest guest
Good luck finding an audiologist in LA that will test. Most out here won't test an autistic child. I've yet to find one. And the children they will test have to be about 7 years old. Guest guest
Is that because they assume all children with autism has some form of CAPD? I'm thinking of starting Noah in the Fast Forword program, so the assessment would be specific to that. I, too, have looked for an audiologist willing to test for CAPD and couldn't find one. I thought we could give the program a shot and see what, if any, improvements we see. Guest guest
FF is supposed to be a very good program. If you can do it, jump on it. In answer to your question, yes, the assumption is they have it. And they don't want to deal with trying to assess an autistic child that may or may not be able to understand or communicate. Guest guest
That's what I thought. Now that he's becoming brighter and more focused and willing to try to read, I'm seeing things that lead me to believe his processing is off. I'm hoping this will help. Fortunately, his SD already contracts with a company that provides his OT services and they also provide Fast Forword. Considering they can't provide me with any certified reading specialists, this might be the next best thing. Guest guest
My understanding is that Fast Forward, Tomatis, Berard-AIT each target specific types of auditory processing difficulties and you need to first determine which type to target. Guest guest
I may have it all wrong but my understanding is that he basically doesn't believe in regressive autism. He does believe there is Kanner's autism but " true " cases of Kanners is very rare (he also believes that many, maybe not all, Kanners kids also have the same disease state). In his opinion (again, this is all just my understanding of his opinion) is that most kids have regressive autism and it's not really autism at all. That's why he calls it the " A " word, he doesn't like to even say autism.
