Hello,

Also, can anyone recommend an over the counter anti viral ? My daughter had the

herpes simplex virus in her brain.

I don't know of an OTC antiviral.

I want to post out of concern... and I don't mean to alarm anyone... hopefully a

medical person on the list can clarify this...

By no means am I a medical professional. I seem to remember hearing several

years ago (possibly on this list/chat) that the herpes simplex viruses (HHV1-2)

are labeled " simple " because they are basic viruses, affecting only a few areas

of the body, and if they got into your brain they would kill you.

And the other herpes viruses, numbers 3 and up, are " complex " because they know

how to get into key parts of the host's body and survive without killing the

host.

I personally know people with the chicken pox virus (HHV-3) in their brain (base

of the skull- causing headaches/etc) and another in the inner ear (causing

balance problems and facial nerve pain). And of course the numerous kids

that have HHV-6 affecting brain function.

There are no OTCs I would trust for an antiviral.  If your child had

encephalitis, you wouldn't want to risk a weak antiviral therapy " stirring up " a

virus.  Under-treating with too low a dose of the rx antivirals for too short of

a period of time is risky because herpes viruses can easily build resistance to

antivirals, which is risky for our kids.

I agree.  If this is the case, that it sounds like it needs the big guns for

treatment.  Before deciding on , I looked into more natural ways of treating

my son for high viral loads.  I was also going to go to my DAN MD for Valtrex,

but also decided against this.  I read alot on the MB12 Valtrex website about

parents saying their DAN docs were not as use to giving

antivirals- pharmaceuticals- and did not give them for long enough nor at high

enough doses.  This is why we went with the  protocol, which is what these

MD's do as customary in using the antivirals as they do.  If I was going to do

this for my son, I wanted to do it the right way and once.

I do not know if this is common with DAN mds or not in using antivirals.  Maybe

others can share any experience with this also.

Chances are, you are already giving low- to low-medium doses of anti-virals

already. I would keep those doses, and start chelation. Once you reach the

point where chelating is no longer increasing yeast, try increasing the

anti-virals. Viral die off caused more yeast here than chelation did.
