Guest guest
Hi , If you go to the archives I'm sure you will find many success stories. Our son is not recovered yet, but he's made tremendous progress. Keep in mind that every child is different, some make improvements faster than others. Our son has been a patient of Dr. Goldberg for 5 & 1/2 years now. He turned 10 in July, and is in 4th grade. For First and second grade he was fully included in the regular classroom, but we decided that for 3rd grade he needed more academic help, and the regular class moves too fast. (We're in a school district where they are two whole grades ahead of the regular standards). He's in fourth grade this year and doing well, he's learning at his own pace, and tries very hard. His class in not an SDC class, but most of the kids there have learning problems, some need help with math, and others with reading, some have ADD. He joins his regular class in the afternoons for PE, Art, music and fun class activities. He likes to go to school and does not mind playing with the other kids in school. Academically he used to be so behind we thought he would never catch up. Today, he's reading and he understands what he is reading. He can add and subtract and is working on memorizing his time tables, he understands geometric shapes, and fractions. He does not have autistic behaviors, except that he likes talking to himself, and stilll video talks, although that is also improving. He is very cooperative and works hard. Health wise, he used to miss so much school, tons of ear & sinus infections. HE has had 3 ear tube surgeries and had his adenoids removed and still go sick, he even developed pneumonia a couple of times . We've seen tremendous improvements in this area as well, last year he only had maybe 3 ear infections all year! This summer he actually had a low grade fever, which is good news because it means his immune system is fighting an infection! His regular pediatrician can't believe his health improvements. We have not visited his ENT in about 3 years! After school he sees and academic tutor three times a week, and has private speech twice a week. This year we stopped the ABA team after school. Dr. Goldberg had told us that we need the medical treatment and the therapies to be successful. Feel free to email me privately if you like.
