Guest guest
What is this drug specifically? I had thought it was a supplement, not technically a drug. Barb Katsaros barbkatsaros@... Thanks for this Bill. The drugs name is Isoprinosine. Do a search there is quite a bit published on it. We tried it several years ago - ordering it direct from Newport Pharmaceuticals in Dublin - they shipped direct - we lived in Singapore at the time. I believe there were issues getting it into the US. It didn't seem to help our son, although then, Dr G was not using the " pulsed " dosage that is recommended - which I surmise from Bills post that this is what is now being done. Here is the cost in 2004: 3 X 100 tablets (500mg) at EUR158.72 plus shipping (EUR36.50) FedEx total of EUR195.22. So for about 200 Euros, we got 3 months supply - quite a bit cheaper than Famvir at full price - without insurance. If it is helping - it's a bargain! Guest guest
No, it is a pharm. Read Ellen's article posted yesterday. It is truly an immune modulator that increases the number of NK cells. This allows the child's immune system to better deal with the hhv6 virus. ________________________________ From: Barb Katsaros <barbkatsaros@...> Sent: Thursday, January 15, 2009 6:09:19 PM Subject: Re: Re: Immunovir - Isoprinosine What is this drug specifically? Guest guest
There is a supplement that comes up when you search for immunovir (the isoprinosine?) that here in the US is a supplement, but is not the same thing as the immunovir. I think some may say that it is, but Dr G (or was it Mrs G?) said it is not the same thing. Guest guest
Isoprinosine is a prescription drug - i.e. a pharmaceutical that is registered and efficacy tested as such in more than 25 developed countries. Why it is not in the US I don't know. It is not classed as a supplement. As Bill Klimas posted, it is an NK cell enhancer - specifically a T cell switcher. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of cher.lowrance Sent: Saturday, January 17, 2009 12:25 PM Subject: Re: Re: Immunovir - Isoprinosine Some supplements are by Rx only. Guest guest
My son took Immunovir for just over three months this past fall. It's a prescription drug, not a supplement. He did very well on it. We saw no allergy symptoms what so ever ,and he is overall much more healthy. He's also on monthly IVIG, and he's gained eighteen pounds since April 08'. It's nothing short of a miracle to look at him and know that for the first time he's absorbing nutrients from his food. His gut issues are a thing of the past. His bowels normalized within one week of his first infusion. Guest guest
Did Dr. Goldberg prescribe these for your son? What is IVIG? We have done IMGG, which he prescribed. How old is your son? Mine is 17, and definitely has gut issues. He has not grown for 2 years and lost 6 lbs. He is about to be tested for lack of growth hormone. Guest guest
BTW - after restarting my youngest on the protocol, he is starting to gain weight now too - he gained almost 3 lbs in around 2-3 months, after not having gained much more than a pound in over 2 years (give or take, with a bit of gain here then loss). Gut issues are not obvious for him - he just wasn't gaining weight even though he was gaining height. ________________________________ From: Barb Katsaros <barbkatsaros@...> Sent: Sunday, January 18, 2009 12:28:10 PM Subject: RE: Re: Immunovir - Isoprinosine Did Dr. Goldberg prescribe these for your son? Guest guest
Hi , I think that both are helping him. The IVIG was started in April 08' and the Immunovir was started in Sept. 08'. He still benefitted from the Immunovir even though he was already on IVIG. It helped to balance his TH1 and TH2. He stopped overreacting to allergens and started reacting more appropriately to bacteria, viruses and yeast. I'm not sure if Dr. G would recommend it for your child or not. You could ask him to see what his thoughts are. My son was chronically ill with infections, yeast and viruses. He also overacted to so many allergens that It was really necessary to try this med to see if it helped him or not. I'm about to ask his doctor if we should do another few months of Immunovir, because he just started to have some old allergy symptoms again. @...: vanessagamarrac1@...: Sun, 18 Jan 2009 18:31:35 -0800Subject: Re: Immunovir - Isoprinosine :-The progress was because if inmunovir or for the IGIV?-Does dr. Goldberg recomend it if a kid is fairly ok in the inmune panel? i mean my girl has almost a normal inmune panel, but i would like to ask him about inmunovir.
