marie,we bought the magic jack also, wanted to drop the land line to save $.  ours cuts out about every 60 sec. or so for about 10 sec. hard to carry on a conversation this way.  googled the symptoms and came up with a list of things to do to fix it, but nothing has worked so far. there are a lot of people who have the same problem and are very upset with the poor/no customer service.  any info helps usually come from users posting.  so for us, it has been a disappointment.  have several others we know who have had good luck with it, so not sure.  maybe it is a bad component or our hookup stuff. 

have wondered if m.j. plus would be better.  but are dragging our feet with this.  if we move this yr, to us, to mess with this is not worth it.barbara

We drpped the telephonne and switched to mike jack .it save us a lot . i tis not as handy thought th eline is some time of poor quality and I it needs more checking on our part reinitialisation .

we do not like th etv either so we just do with videos so we just have now a intenet line it does tellephone too with the mike jack answering machine as well .

it cost us 40$ a mont for th eline and 5$ for themagic jack and I call intenationnal at 3ct a mn

texting requires the use of your thumbs a lot.  wonder how long it will take this generation to get 'carpel tunnel' of the thumb..my step daughter's daughter, before they got unlimited texting on their phones, ran up an $800 bill in texting for one month.  i couldn't figure out how anyone would have that much time.  but was told that kids text back and forth with just very short messages, i.e. ok, thanks, or use just letters for certain words. and they go back and forth like that constantly.  so a 3 word message was still .05, as well as a short letter.  

i prefer a full key board, giving exercise to the entire hand.  i think that is more 'healthy' than just using the thumbs, not to mention the $10 month fee.

boy was her mom mad.  and they had to pay it all.  then the daughter had to work it off.
