Guest guest
About how long after starting antivirals should you expect die off syptoms, if you get any at all? TIA, robyn
Guest guest
I never noticed any significant die off with my oldest two boys, but I did with my youngest. His behavior took a nasty turn after about four days on antivirals and then after a week, he came through so bright and even tempered. It was great! I started the antivirals on Monday (HHV 6 and EBV). On Wednesday, I had more energy than I've had in the past year and no headache for the first time in about two months. Thursday night I started to feel as if I were getting the flu--very tired, bad headache, nausea. Although I suppose it could've been the flu, it seems kind of coincidental. I just wasn't sure it would happen that fast. Thanks for the info. robyn > From: <thecolemans4@...> > Subject: Re: Die Off > > Date: Friday, November 7, 2008, 5:41 PM > Sometimes it starts almost immediately, sometimes you may > notice after a week, maybe at the two week mark have a > couple of rotten days - if you're going to see it. Guest guest
Oh, well...I don't think you should be too hard on yourself, Robyn... for one thing, I don't have THREE kids on the protocol like you do -- and to be honest, I'm not nearly as diligent in my note-keeping now as I was at the beginning. Now all I have go by are my bi-weekly updates to Dr. G. > > > > > > > > > About how long after starting antivirals should you > > expect die off > > syptoms, if you get any at all? > > > > > > TIA, > > > > > > robyn > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Colleen, I know it sounds crazy but if your child is acting more autistic it is really a good sign. It means they will be helped after you make it through " die off. " The die-off reaction to the anifungal or antiviral usually occurs two days to two weeks after starting the medications A die-off reaction is when the yeast or virus is being killed off. It usually kicks up some severe reactions before exiting the body. I know you are never going to believe this because your child is acting so much more autistic, but it really is great news. It means your child will be helped tremendously. I know you feel like you are going backwards at this time, and it is hard to know that you are doing the right thing. However, when die-off is over, you will see a new kid. More focused and alert. You will be amazed by the change in your child. So hang on. After die-off it will be wonderful! The hyper, silly, and drunken behavior start to go away. Now they can learn to stop pinching or biting. (Or whatever the behavior is that your child does. Behaviors that make you crazy now, will be possible to get rid of with teaching.) To help with die-off, you can give your child some activated charcoal (can get at the pharmacy without a prescription) to absorb the yeast that is being killed off. But be careful when you give it, because in addition to absorbing the yeast that is existing the body, it will absorb medicines. So don't give it shortly after giving meds. Die-off doesn't usually last more than a week but can be as long as ten days. If it is really bad, call Dr. G. He may tell you to either increase or decrease the dosage of the anti-fungal. Once I tried the pills myself just to see what die-off felt like. You feel like PMS times twenty. During that time we didn't do anything complicated. We hung out and did things he found relaxing like watching his favorite videos. It wasn't a time I would try to teach my son anything new. They feel very sick. Tylenol every three and a half hours helps. Hang in there. This short terrible time will bring great things. Call me if I can help. Marcia 805 497-8202 P.S. You need to switch antifungals about every six months. I used to dread that time. The good news is that when they are better, and it is time to switch you don't get the severe reactions anymore.
