You are in home stretch...hang in there! My daughter

was that way, too until just after 3 weeks. If you

think this is lasting too long, you can call the

doctor.

Die off sucks but it should get better, especially when he adds the

antifungal.

Hi Cher,

I was just going to ask, when does the antifungal come in?  My son(9) is still

going thru a rough time also and it's been 21 days since we've been on Famvir

and antibiotic.  His sound sensitivity seems to be worse than ever.  He can't

have a meal with the family right now.  Every noise seems to bother him.  Dark

circles under the eye is worse one day, better one day.  He wakes up very

early. He's just totally unhappy right now.  Dr. G. says it should all get

better in about a wk to 10days & we hope so.  He had mentioned Nizoral but not

sure when he plans to start it???? But I'm also wondering if this is all dieoff,

how long does it last??? thank you

God bless

He usually adds the antifungal at the next appointment. He likes to

start the antifungal and the antiviral 30 days apart. Unless things

have changed since we stopped seeing him but I doubt it. Believe me,

it will help! You'll be wanting to kiss Dr. G after the die off from

the antifungal is over and he settles down!

Thanks Cher.  I pray so!!!

I just brought my son back from a doctor's office to do an x-ray that Dr. G.

recomended.  It was impossible!! He screamed his lungs out! It's been a

nightmare taking him out of the house lately!  It feels like it will never end.

You'll be hearing from me within a minute of his calmness or whatever good

change we may see out of this!  Thanks again.

Hi, .

Die off can be very rough, and a child's reaction to it as unique as the child

himself. Keep in mind there will also be a die off period when you use the

antifungal. Joab sounds as if he's in pain. Have you tried Advil? It can ease

the symptoms and make him more comfortable. Noah experiences chronic headaches

during viral die off and they can make him crazy. It does get better. Actually,

this may be good thing because it shows the Valtrex is working.

We'll keep your family in our prayers.

All the best,

Robyn

My son has not expressed that he side effects that cause him any

pain. His is in his behavior and his academics are suffering because

he can not stay focused. What really bothers me the most is his

coloring. His face is so pale and dark circles under his eyes.

He started taking Nizoral with the Valtrex and he seems better than

before. He had a little better day today.

Thank you Robyn.  We do give him motrin & it seems to help some but not with the

sound issues, so he would still scream around meal time or when his syblings are

playing loud.

I couldn't find advil w/o a cherry flavor or some other flavor that's not

allowable on the diet.  I'll keep looking.  It'll probably be better for him if

it really helps with inflammation.

I appreciate your support & prayer.  God bless you and your family.

There is advil or motrin that is dye free...usually at

drug stores. It should help take the edge off for

your son. But I have heard not to use tylenol, I

don't know if you heard that too.

Take care! You will be happy you are doing this! This

is a good sign that you are taking care of exactly

what your boy needs!

-

PS. Usually you have a die-off with antifungal,

too...

Tylenol does come in a dye-free version, and I found it helped with

die-off just as well as the Ibuprofen (Advil/Motrin). HTH,

I have heard that Tylenol is not good for our kiddos. Something about

interfering with mylenation.

It depletes glutathione. But just to be clear, I don't think Dr. G

believes this or is concerned with it if he does believe it as he is

okay with it. Personally, I don't use it but I don't think Dr. G has

a problem with it.
