Guest guest
Is it possible she's getting the flu or has a slight case of the flu? This is what happens to my son. It's my first indication that he's becoming ill. His behavior, which is normally excellent, deteriorates--he becomes aggressive, agitated, etc. He engages in behaviors that he normally would not do, such as biting me, which he did twice this week. This is by no means normal behavior for him and he doesn't, thank God, do it to anyone else. He has a tendency to take it out on me. Zyrtec could be the problem as well. Regarding the scripting, again, if she's ill, she could be resorting to behavior that provides her some measure of comfort and predictability. Guest guest
My son had two severe bouts with diarrhea when he was 4. It was a parasite. Guest guest
Hi , We don't have specific experience with Zyrtec, but 's stools have gotten mushy every year for allergy season. I never knew if it was due to post nasal drip, or the immune response itself. It's happened every spring and fall pretty much since he was 18 months old. He's been on the protocol for two years, and this past fall, no stool problems. Hope this helps. Alaine
Guest guest
Thank you Robyn, this is possible. I guess I have to wait it out and see. - --- Robyn & Greg Coggins <rngcoggs@...> wrote: > Is it possible she's getting the flu or has a slight > case of the flu? Guest guest
I hope she feels better soon. Guest guest
My girl has also problems with the stools, i suspect of parasites because of the pool and beach (we are in summer); do you know if dr. G recomend something for this. I was used to GSE, but he doesn´t recomend this. He is recommending just diet, no vegetables, but it is been 3 weeks and no improvements. Guest guest
Zyrtec and Allegra make my son very irritable, aggressive, and oppositional. I didn't catch on immediately because it was a slow build-up. Like you, it took running out or forgetting the med to figure it out. It also seems to take 3-5 days for things to start normalizing after removing the med, and then a little longer for the attitude, anger, and resentment to get out of their memory, too. Zyrtec was a negative, Allegra was even worse. Dytan works on a different channel, and does not seem to negatively affect my boys, but it also isn't as effective - a price I'm willing to pay. We're trying Singulair to get better allergy control, but I'm not seeing much of a difference. I'm going to have to work harder on diet. Dr is aware that Zyrtec can cause irritability, so I think he will work with you on that, and you may not have to wait for your appt to get it changed if you don't want. I haven't always been able to find reasons for stool issues, but I have always noticed that a long term antibiotic (w/ antifungal of course) has always seemed to clear it up for my youngest. If you're seeing improvements, I wouldn't fret too much right now, just keep a food log and rotate some foods (if there are enough foods in her diet to rotate lol) to see if you can pin down something. I think that an up-regulated immune system can do this (recent illness or other triggers) too, and sometimes time on meds can help. You'll probably come across the trigger with a good daily log though. My kids did not do well with gluten free. One had constant diahrrea while on that diet, and neither are GF and have made great progress. It may not hurt (with permission from Dr first) to try a week with small amounts of gluten to see if she responds. If you're attempting to replace gluten, sometimes it's the substitutions making things worse. I think Dr has a lower allergy version than most, but I'm not sure because I haven't really read his & Kathy's recommendations on it. Don't be too discouraged - it takes time to get all of the pieces together, and later on she won't be as sensitive and easy to set off, and you'll probably even be able to expand her diet. Did Dr instruct you to be yeast free and preservative free? Those aren't areas that I put my energies into right now. Also, (assuming you've already seen Dr ?) I believe you can call in between if you have concerns. How long has she been on the protocol? It gets so much easier the second year... HTH - hang in there! ________________________________ From: Hankinson <jlhank80@...> Sent: Thursday, February 12, 2009 12:18:03 PM Subject: recurring mushy stools Hi everyone. I am wondering if anyone could give me some insight here about my daughter. I wrote in recently talking about her outbursts and her defiance. Well, after that I accidentally (it really was an accident!) forgot to give her Zyrtec for 3 nights, and she calmed down a lot. We have a lot let outbursts but A LOT more stimming and scripting. Not only that now, she has mushy stools again. I can't think of anything else I can eliminate out of this kid's diet! She is GF, CF, yeast free, low sugar, dye free, preservative free, egg free and berry free. I don't have an appt. with Dr. until next week and I am really concerned now. And so discouraged. Any input out there??? Thanks in advance,
