Guest guest
this may be a 'positive' reaction but in my opinion (I am a nurse and have two children diagnosed recently with ) it could also be a separate issue. It is important to seek medical advice when such an episode occurs whether you believe it is die off or not. As Dr G recommends the protocol he is I am sure available to advise you on what is reasonable to expect and how to manage what is clearly a very distressing experience for your son. Contact Dr G and ask for advice now! In a message dated 22/01/2009 12:52:04 GMT Standard Time, klimas_bill@... writes: My son is ten and we have had extraordinary results on Dr G's protocol. Dear Group, We're new to Dr. G., just started about 2wks ago. Our son is 9yrs old. We started him on Famvir about a week ago(1/2tab)3x/ day. He's also on an antibiotic for treating fluid in his ear. The past 2 days he's been screaming and crying more than usual and waking up between 2- 3am & not going back to sleep at all. The dark circles under his eyes are worse. He just seems to be more irritable & uncomfortable than usual. I was wondering if anyone had similar experience within 1-2wks of starting Famvir?? Can't tell if this is a dieoff reaction or not being able to tolerate it or maybe yeast flare up?? We had to keep him home from school today because he was screaming and crying all morning. Please advice. Appreciate your feedback! God bless [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Guest guest
Hello, Probably not die off. I would take him to the ped. to have his ears checked asap.. I sounds like he's in pain, try Advil, and see if it makes him any more comfortable. @...: bekeleelizabeth@...: Thu, 22 Jan 2009 05:38:11 +0000Subject: Famvir--die off?? Guest guest
This could be die off. Any fever? With my kids, die off consisted of a lot of irritability, sleep disturbances, headaches and body aches. I used Advil, which can also help with any inflammation in the body. Believe it or not, this could be good news. You may have a clearer, brighter, happier kid once die off is done. Guest guest
Hi , It sounds like die-off! Ask Dr. Goldberg's office first, but in the past they told me to give him Tylenol to help because he's not feeling well. Remember, he also has fluid in his ears as well and that can be painful. Guest guest
Tylonol is horrible for children with autism. It lowers glutathione levels and inhibits detoxification. It's also tough on the liver which is another way that our bodies detox.. You shouls only give children with autism Motrin or Advil! @...: golivo@...: Thu, 22 Jan 2009 08:55:25 -0800Subject: Re: Famvir--die off?? Hi ,It sounds like die-off! Guest guest
I've heard of people experiencing extreme die-off symptoms not unlike what you're describing. I would still have him checked by a pediatrician and notify Dr G. The timing does seem to be about when die-off peaks for some people, but often when you first get started on antivirals, it seems they also get sick easily those first couple of months. HTH, and hang in there! ________________________________ From: bekeleelizabeth <bekeleelizabeth@...> Sent: Wednesday, January 21, 2009 11:38:11 PM Subject: Famvir--die off?? Guest guest
Thank you all so much for your responds. Today was a much better day for my son. Just some irritability & no screaming. We gave him motrin which seemed to help. I don't do Tylenol for the same reason one parent mentioned here. Dr. G. had suggested also to give him pain killer during this time. He has no fever but is coughing deeply and if it continues by tomorrow I'll definetly have him checked by our peds.  As some of you said, we hope this is a good sign. Thanks again for your advices and support!!! Guest guest
Glad to hear things are getting better. Keep tabs on that cough though. Elijah's cold seemed to get better and then he woke up with a cough. Dr. G said it was bronchitis. Please keep us posted on Joab's progress. Guest guest
Thanks Robyn. Joab is still coughing 2 or 3 times a day but interestingly not at night time at all. So I didn't think it could be serious, but you never know. I'll have him checked by Monday if he still coughs. Was Elijah's cough all day and night time also? Do you know if this has to do with the med and die off? because Joab hardly goes thru cough when he had cold in the past. Thank you Robyn for your support & will keep you posted on the progress here.
