Aren't egg beaters whites only (or mostly whites)? My twins were both

intolerant to egg whites when they were infants. The whites tend to be more

problematic than the yolks. Can you try making his French toast with yolks

only for a bit and see if it makes a difference?

My other thought is that the egg beaters might have some kind of

preservative, and my son (patient of Dr. G) is highly sensitive to

preservatives.

What kind of bread are you using?

Subject: Question about egg substitute

Listmates,

We just returned from our annual visit to Tarzana. is 7 and has

been on the protocol for two years. While he has shown impressive

gains, Dr. G definitely seems to feel that he should be further

along. His blood work has shown very little improvement in ASO and

ANA titers, so we're wondering what we might be missing.

In the initial visit blood work two years ago, did show

sensitivity to eggs, and does get seasonal excema in winter. So we

eliminated eggs, but Dr. G said egg beaters were OK. has french

toast (made with egg beaters) and turkey bacon pretty much every

morning for breakfast, so I'm wondering if the egg beaters could be

the problem? We sent in a food diary in the fall and eliminated Ritz

Bitz and Fig Newtons, but the blood work still does not show the

progress that he would like. The egg beaters is the only other thing

I can think of.

Any feedback? Any any ideas on a different egg substitute?

Thanks - you guys are a huge help!

Thanks, Kristy,

We usually use Pepperidge Farm White Sandwich bread. It didn't even

occur to me to use the yolks versus the substitute (which, you're

right, is mostly whites). I was looking at egg replacers (most are

potato based), but I really liked that extra bit of protein in the

morning. I may just eliminate the egg products all together and see

what happens with the next blood work.

Thanks!

Alaine
