lena, the pie sounds great.  get to eat something sweet and kill bugs at the same time.  i didn't realize you could actually herx from it though.  i may try that.  yes, know that dogs should not have chocolate.  but she is used to getting the last bite of just about everything.  we really do spoil her.  she actually didn't get much, my husband did.  i never bake so when my mom brings things over, it disappears fast via him.  but some did reach the garbage can though.

thxbarbara

Hi Barbara, Just in case you didn't know, generally chocolate is quite toxic to most dogs, so the trash-can might be a better destination for brownies with M & Ms, etc.

Be well,Léna

thanks marie, but sisters and i have talked to her about xylitol, but she forgets.  we buy things for her, but she uses a box mix.  she doesn't like the taste of xylitol, so won't use it.

don't worry too much about this, as i said HELP! kind of as a joke, as she is doing it again.  it is not going to stop with her, she can't remember what we told her about it yesterday.  so i dumped some in the garbage and like i said, my husband and dog enjoyed the rest.  i escaped with only a few bites so did ok.

i understand, again, that it will not change as the family has tried.  she doesn't want to change and doesn't remember about changing.  my sister said after visiting that mom doesn't understand the reasoning for changing sooooo.  here we are.  not much we can do without total control and that won't happen for a while.  i'l just continue to say 'thanks mom' and dump it when she leaves.

thanks for caringbarbara

Hi Barbara, What abotu givign the website for xylitol to you mother and asking her next time to buy it on line this kind of product that fit your health condition ? the reis candies chocolate and pure xylitol as a reimplacement of the sugar .

You may add that this way no tonly it willallow us to have sweeties but it does heals you both too so she is the nuturer as well as the health keeper ? And you may buy a bag of xylitol for her next try for cancaies cakes or wich ever asking her to uses this instead of sugar ?

Subject: Re: Re: OT: Elderly parents/SUGAR   thanks for all the support.  i have told my mom so many times that i can't eat this stuff.  please don't bring it over.  i can't have the sugar and tom (husband) doesn't need the weight.

she will often say, here take this for tom, he likes it.  or, i made this for tom.  it is the generation thing to nurture.  tom says that he believes she actually forgets that i have repeatedly asked her not to bring stuff over.

well, the ones she made today even had m & ms in them and choc chips and frosting.  i like them best plain actually.  with all the stuff on them they are way too sweet.  but with toms and the dogs help i only had to have a couple bites, so did pretty good.  actually threw some in the garbage.

i have been through  sugar withdrawal many times since in my 30's when i started learning about it's evils. have always watched it, but have avoided almost entirely since 05, but can't always be perfect.  i know if i blow it there is a price to be paid.  i usually will only eat a small amount and mainly after a meal, when i crave it more.  so not on an empty stomach so don't see the 'high'.  then  i will coil for candida a few days later and for a couple more times.

thanks barbara

Good idea. And excercize (any kind) is also a good way to detox it from your system. : )
