Guest guest
I was induced with all of my children and only the oldest has ASD symptoms. We've been with Dr. Goldberg for my oldest (10.5 yrs) since Oct 2002. Being induced is probably only another straw to the pile of immune assults (of which the MMR appears to be the typical " straw that broke the camel's back " for children who have been at risk due to genetics and environmental factors.) I'm safe gaurding my younger kids by following Dr. G's recommendations for diet while pregnant/breastfeeding and for their first 3 years of life, as well as an alternative vaccine schedule. My second child, a boy, turned 3 in November and is extremely " typical " . His speech is amazing and he has all the imaginative play my oldest never had. My youngest is a girl and only 4 months, but already she's more like my second than my oldest in regards to sleeping well and not having colic or chronic ear infections. - in Mobile, AL ______________________________________ " You must write for children in the same way as you do for adults, only better. Wonderwegian Oxytocin Wnet to a conference tonght and there is now real clical data showing that 70% of children on the spectrum were born under the influence of Pitosin(oxytocin) What they do not know is if the baby is not sending the signal for labor to start, so the child is already having problems, or if there is too much oxytocin where given during delivery that the babies nervous system will shut down(down regulate) and this is where it may begin. Interestingly, many of the other child with autism are born premature, in which case they would more than likely have a c-section and they too would not be exposed to the normal amount of oxytocin that would be produced during a normal delivery. So too much or not enough is causing the same reaction. The have nowfinished a real clinical trial on adults with autism with IV oxytocin, and the results did show both reduction in higher order repetative behavior and increased social cognition compared to placebo. They also saw similiar effects with the use of vVasopressen, which is often used for bed wetting. Who know an autistic child could be making significant gain with this, but the connection is not being made to the Vasopressen. There are now going to do a trial with Oxytocin nasal spray with adaults only. This is supposedly the first time they have found something that can help with the social end of this. They have found virtuaaaly no side effects. Sound promising. And I need to mention this, I went this meeting with a baot load of people, none of which did not hacve a premature babay and or was not given pitosin. The other thing they are now looking into with immune issues is actually a lack of a parasite in the gut, which is found in more rural areas where child are eating dirt and not living in this antibacterial world. Just as some bacteria are bad, some are good, this parasite is good, but we have wiped it out producing allergies, asthma and such.. The study is still in progress, but what they are seeing, when givin this parasitic crap, it is basically acting as an immune modulator, so they are finally opening their eyes to medications that encourage immune modulation and that these children do indeed have immune problems. Guest guest
This definitely gives me food for thought. I have three children and only the youngest is on the spectrum. He is also the only one for whom I was induced with oxytocin. I was also induced for my oldest son, who has severe ADHD, but just by breaking my water (no drugs). I had dilated but was not progressing. My daughter, who is fine, was lightening fast. She took 2 hours of labour from start to finish with no induction. I just read a little about this and it is suggested that that the association may be caused by the mother/child unit having sulfation problems which can make it difficult for mom's oxytocin to be produced in sufficient quantity to move labor along, necessitating a jumpstart with exogenous oxytocin (pitocin). The theory is that mothers with sulfation problems would have a higher likelihood for delayed or desultory labor. Since that was the case for my two boys, I wonder if I have sulfation issues and if there is any way of knowing? Guest guest
I definitely was not induced, but I was pumped full of various drugs for preterm labor, from 19 weeks to 26 weeks when my twins were born. Guest guest
That was interesting about the induced labor. I suspect that there is already a hormonal issue at hand delaying the labor, but I'm pleased that perhaps they will take a strong look at it - it is used without any concern. I just know we experience other hormonal dysregulations too (urinary hormones, thyroid, etc) and that there are so many that are associated with or mixed up from a dysfunctional immune system. I've long suspected oxytocin would eventually be administered as a social therapy some day since they have long known that oxytocin is a major bonding hormone. I'm always skeptical about not having side effects though. I'd bet that if we gave a delayed vaccine schedule and low allergy diet to all kids born under pitocin, and more aggressively treated chronic infections while they're little, with careful choices of the antibiotics, and if we gave them probiotics early on, we could reduce autism and developmental delays tremendously. Do you remember the name of the parasite? I had some posts saved before about the impact a parasite had on the immune system ... I think I read it from a Chronic Fatigue Syndrome newsletter or conference or something. They were intrigued because the parasite shifted the immune system in a desirable way. We talked about this maybe a year ago, I think. (I saw some 'funnies' that were ads from the 1930s where they used to sell sanitized tapeworms as a diet aid!lol) ________________________________ From: Rhoda Boyd <rboyd@...> Sent: Friday, January 23, 2009 9:00:56 AM Subject: Re: Oxytocin This definitely gives me food for thought. Guest guest
I was induced with my first two children and one has mild/mod autism and the other has Asperger's. My youngest has a mild form of ADHD, but he he was born without induction. It'll be interested to see where these studies lead, especially since induction seems to be more and more common. Guest guest
I wonder what percentage of births involve oxytocin? I wonder what percentage of typically developing children were induced? Have you seen any info on that? Thanks,
Guest guest
Both my births were C-sections and did not involve Oxytocin at all and yet both my boys are ASD... for them it was the HEP B vaccine that started the whole process of regression... and each vaccine after that just made it worse and worse... But I can say once I introduced Oxytocin Nasal Spray... they made great gains like eye contact and interest in their peers (social skills)!!! And when I stopped giving the spray.... the gains stayed!!! Love, Gabby. :0) http://stemcellforautism.blogspot.com/ " I know of nobody who is purely Autistic or purely neurotypical.
