Hi Jodie,Negativity is relative. When I first began fighting my 45 year chronic Lyme, I thought that two years or so would end it and life would go on as before. Little did I know! They say you have to get sicker before you get well and killing Lyme made me SO much sicker that life was simply not worth living. They also say that the sicker you are, the weller you get, and the learning , the patience, the knowledge i've acquired in this fight has given me so much that although I'll never say I was glad to have Lyme, I am thankful for its hidden gifts.Mastering detox brought me back from despair and steadied me to the point where I could appreciate tiny steps of improvement instead of the giant steps I'd hoped for. Now, over 5 years later, I consider myself lucky to be so close to 'normal'. I just finished doing a rigorous tour of New Orleans Mardi Gras with a lot of fit, normal people and kept up (although I'm so tired today). I managed to keep Rifing and doing all my pills and staying hydrated, etc. etc. etc. and although sometimes, i resented the fact that my 'normal' requires a lot of effort and ongoing discipline, I also realized that many people carry such burdens and that the joys of living eclipse the behind-the-scenes effort that goes on with the show.I wish I could say that it's all rainbows and roses, but the hard-won wisdom of living with Lyme can make the rain and the thorns something bearable, even interesting, and definitely better that the full-blown suffering now left in the past. Life is good.Be well,Léna Hi all, I been on this group for about 8 months AND I'm curious as to how many people consider themselves recovered or close to recovery? Ranging from 80 percent and up? It seems I have only heard of a couple people claiming this with Lena and Sue B. being the main ones except, brian R. and S.? And even these people are still active in treatment on a maintenance level of some form. Not to be negative but this doesn't seem very promising or uplifting! Are their others here or that have come and gone living a better quality of life? Keeping it real! Jodie L.
