Guest guest
Hi Sherry, I don't understand why they would send her to a lock down unit because of possibly " saying something that showed a tendency to violence " . My mom is in a secure unit and that is because of the possiblity of wandering. But there are other people with dementia in the other units in the NH. I'm sure they would also have those sorts of behaviours eg. tendencies to violence. Is it that they figure that people in a lock down unit won't be as aware of others behaviours? I don't understand this. When they put her in a lock down unit how will that control her 'violent behaviour'? Maybe a lock down unit is something different and I don't realize it. I agree that maybe adjusting her meds, or if possible changing her room again would alleviate the problem. If the other family was able to get your mom moved because of her behaviour, wouldn't you have a right to ask to have her moved because she is unable to sleep? It's good that you're meeting with the admin. Good luck.
