Today this piece from Rigpa Glimpse was in my mail. Thought you'd appreciate it. It might probably be regarded as alien by some of narrower philosophies, but the opportunity for us to use our own personal experience of suffering to understand the suffering or others, to apply whatever we've used in our own struggles as help and info for others is such a gift! That doing so could clear karma is a welcome bonus.

Compassion is the best protection; it is also, as the great masters of the past have always known, the source of all healing. Suppose you have a disease such as cancer or AIDS. By taking on the sickness of those suffering like you, in addition to your own pain, with a mind full of compassion, you will—beyond any doubt—purify the past negative karma that is the cause, now and in the future, of the continuation of your suffering.

In Tibet there have been many extraordinary cases of people who, when they heard they were dying of a terminal illness, gave away everything they had and went to the cemetery to die. There they practiced taking on the suffering of others; and what is amazing is that instead of dying, they returned home, fully healed.

Im so sorry about you losing your home ,but I can understand.Ive move twice in the last two years after leaving NH.Im about to sell my house In keene , or find a family to rent it to with option to buy as Im too tired to manage the house remotely from Florida

Im also getting ready to move yet again because the house Ive been renting has mold in it and the allergies just make my condition worse.

So Im moving in with a family , one member who is disabled, so we will be trying to take care of each other.Its not a quiet house but it is my only sure option at the moment
