I've been using a Doug Coil for Bart every day for almost 3 weeks, and I'm up to 55 seconds. The last few nights my lower legs and angles have been swollen. On rare occassions some years ago I've had swollen ankes, but it's been quite a while. I do feel that Bart is strong in my feet and shins, and I've coiled my abdomen while sitting with my legs crossed to get more coverage the last 5 nights. I'm interpreting this to mean that I'm overloading my kidneys with toxins and that's what's causing the edema, but it's only a guess. Any thoughts if that's right, and if I should just start standing again and increasing the time, or back off the time and keep sitting to coil to get more of my legs and feet. Thanks in advance for any insights.Tara

Hi Tara,

Other Lymies in the past with swollen ankles (not specifically from Coiling)

found that drinking

a lot more water helped..

If it were me, I would lower your session times until this improves. You are

obviously having a reaction

to something, which probably is toxins...

But do drink more water, distilled or filtered only..

Take care,

Jim

Hi Tara,

I've had swollen ankles for several years. I rife for them, get my husband to

massage them, rest on a slant board (doing reiki on myself), and wear elastic

ankle braces. The thing that helps me most is the liver support drink, which I

have mentioned before (I use Thorne MediClearPlus and add granny smith apple,

lemon, ginger and soaked almonds in my vitamix). So it's definitely related to

detox, for me at least. Bouncing on the rebounder also helps to activate my

lymphatic system. And I massage my lymph nodes daily.

Hi Tara,

A bit more about this....

Also, I assume you are using some good detoxers, so maybe increasing these if

you

can would be helpful and also be sure to use a good toxin binder such as

Glucomannan, Azomite, French Green Clay, Bentonite clay or charcoal.. There

maybe a few more, but that is all the brain will allow for now...

Take care,

Jim

Thank you Jim. Yes, we take Detox ND 1/4 tsp a.m. and p.m., and also 1/2 tsp.

30 min. before coiling. Our nutritionist feels this is the best detoxer out

there. I also take 2000 mg. of Glucomannan between meals, plus 2000 mg. when I

coil. My husband takes 3 Welchol two times per day.

Based on a discussion yesterday with our nutritionist about possibily adding

other detoxers, we've added charcoal. For my husband who is only coiling once

a week for Lyme he suggested 1 capsule with every meal the day of coiling plus

breakfast the following day, and for me, since I coil every day for Bart and he

didn't want me to take too much, 1 every day with food closest to coiling.

I asked about Bentonite Clay, and he had a reason to recommend charcoal and not

clay, but I'm afraid " Bart-brain " can't remember what it was :-). I'm just

trying not to be too hard on myself with my worsening brain deficits since I

started coiling, and have faith that with time I'll be back to a much earlier

and higher level of functioning. You and many other posters have given me hope,

thank you!

Hi Tara,

Charcoal is a toxin binder and should be taken about 1 hour before or 2 hours

after food..

If taken with a meal it will not be as effective.

Some NDs are concerned about recommending clays, fearing they can be binding in

the

gut and cause constipation.. If this happens, taking oral mag citrate will stop

constipation,

but it also feeds spirochetes and helps to form biofilms.. Not everyone get

constipation

from clays though... Next visit, take a notepad and pen and make notes, or

bring a portable

voice recorder... This will really help you to remember.

A good toxin binder is Glucommanan... not only is it a toxin binder, it also

prevents

constipation and it also controls blood sugar and helps prevent weight gain. I

take

2100 mgs 1 hour before each meal..

NEVER be too hard on you!! These are tough diseases and we just need to put them

in their places... Never let them control you.. Pushing through them is the best

way,

but don't push too hard, just enough. There was a time I could hardly read and

understand

what I was reading, but I pushed through this and now have little difficulty

reading

and retaining...

By worsening brain deficits, do you mean because of fatigue and brain fog? If

so, this

is normal as herxing does this and it also proves we are killing pathogens.. I

call it

the necessary evil, we need to make ourselves toxic so one day we feel better.

Just realize Tara, feeling worse is necessary before we feel better... that was

pretty hard

for me to understand when I started learning about Lyme 8 years ago, but it is

the

only way we get to better health..

You and hubby take good care of each other, you both really need each other now,

far

more than before these diseases.. If you limit the stress between the both of

you, this

is actually good for faster healing as stress is not good for Lyme..

Take care,

Jim

Hey Jim, I thought the magnesium citrate brought the spirochetes out to feed, thus making the coiling more effective ???? To: Lyme_and_Rife Sent: Saturday, March 24, 2012 11:43 PM Subject: Re: Swollen legs and ankles after increasing coiling

Hi ,

Some feel that oral magnesium will force spiro's out of cyst form to feed, I

don't know if there is anything to this other than speculation and I would not

use oral mag for this reason as it also feeds all the spiro's in you... The same

is said of sugar.. If anything, we want to starve them... IV and transdermal

magnesium do not feed spiro's.

Any kind of oral magnesium helps to form biofilms and feeds spirochetes (in

that form) and this is why Dr. K says oral

magnesium should not be used by those with Lyme, only IV or transdermal as in

magnesium oil.

But there may be times we just have to use some, like taking clays as a toxin

binder and

then getting constipated (not everyone gets constipated from using clays and

seldom if ever

when using Azomite)... Mag citrate is poorly absorbed by the body, most of it

goes

right to the gut and because of this is excellent for ending constipation... I

think when

someone has bad constipation, any relief is welcome.

I would try not to use it on a regular basis, but when you need it mag citrate

for constipation,

it works really well..

Take care,

Jim
