Guest guest
Listmates I just completed a write up of the diet for the support staff at my sons school. Please run through it and I will add/ subtract the items that are suggested by this parents group. When it is completed we can post it on the group site for new parents. Thanks in advance Bill Diet These are the primary items to be excluded from Connor’s diet at “ALL” times: If you are unsure of any given item or it is not label with ingredients Do Not Give the food item to Connor. Note: This is not a fad diet, these are foods that Connor has been tested for and he has found to be allergic to them. THEY MAKE HIM SICK!! Do Not Give Connor Dairy - All milk products – including Lactose Free labeled items Cheese of any kind: this includes all snack foods that are labeled with any Cheese flavoring: sour cream, ranch, taco or cheddar flavorings (Read the ingredients labels - they will ID Milk!) A good rule of thumb is if it is orange or makes his fingers orange he cannot have it! Whole Grains This includes many snack foods – No Sun Chips or any snack or bread, cracker packages, ETC. that are labeled whole grain Additionally No multi-grain bread products, most products that are labeled “Health Food” are allergens to Connor! This includes trail mixes, granola bars ETC. Fruits or Juice No Pineapple - Note most mixed fruit juices have pineapple juice No Tropical Fruits, (Papaya, Mango, Guava, Melons, Avocados) No Berries (strawberries, cherries, blueberries, raspberries etc.) No Nuts other than peanuts and peanut butter Food Dyes Primarily: Red #40, Blue lake, and Yellow #5 This excludes most multi colored candies and cereals-Read all labels Other Misc. Items To Avoid: Chocolate (Milk Chocolate), cinnamon, all sweetened cereals, sodas other than sprite or diet sprite, all ice cream or frozen deserts other than dye free juice bar (100% Juice is OK, no berry or tropical flavors) No Honey, Tapioca or Brown Rice What is OK!! Potato based snacks. Rice or simple (unsweetened) corn based cereals, plain white bead items, noodles or Spaghetti (That are free of cheese. milk or butter), peanut butter, all meats, such as lunch meats or cooked fresh meats, soda crackers, simple sugar cookies that are labeled “no milk or dairy free”, pretzels, all fruits - canned or fresh (other than those listed above), plain hamburgers, French fries, Juices that are 100% juice (NO RED or Pineapple based Juices). Cooked rice or potatoes, salad, and all veggies that do not have a “Sauce” (These sauces are generally dairy based). He can have ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, and most non-butter or milk based spreads or dipping sauces. > From: angie huiz <angiehuiz@...> > Subject: diet > > Date: Tuesday, August 12, 2008, 11:03 PM > Thanks for the information on the nids diet.
