Here is some info that I found that might be useful:

According to Dr. Burrascano and Dr. Stricker, low CD57 occurs in chronic Lyme or

when the disease has been active for over 1 year. Often reffered to as the

Stricker/Burrascano panel, the count reflects the degree of infection.

* 0 - 60 indicates severe illness

* 60 - 100 the range for most chronic Lyme disease

* 100 - 200 may show improvement, still requires treatment

* >200 is normal and safe to stop treatment without relapse

>

> I've been coiling for about 6 months now and decided to do some blood tests to

see what shows up. I'd never done the CD57 and ordered it through direct labs.

The lab range is quite wide 60-360. Mine came in at 79. I remember hearing

somwhere that < 100 is indicative of infection. Anyone familiar with the test?

I'd like to know functionally, what the ideal range is.

I'm in the same boat. Mine has been stuck at 80 for several years now. I took

antibiotics for 4 years, and switched over to coiling a year ago. My last CD57

test was about 6 months ago, so I need to check it again. I'd suggest having

your IgA, IgG, and IgM measured at the same time. Coiling has helped my stubborn

IgA fall into the upper end of the normal range, which the abx could not

accomplish in 4 years.

Hi ,

There are several labs that do CD57 tests. I had mine from quest diagnostics

and my score was a 3 back in 2007. I think the top number was 60. I think that

each test from different labs has a different range so you want to make sure you

are ordering the test that Burascano used so that you don't end up like me with

severly low scores and relying on the wrong range to determine where your score

lies in respect to normal.

I ordered through Direct Labs online who uses Labcorp. Labcorp is one of the

trusted labs for the CD57. The range is 60-360. It seems like 200 or better is

ideal. I wish I would have had CD57 baseline done before I started treatment.

The 79 number would show great improvement if I started out at half that number.

I plan on redoing the test in 4-6 months to see if there is any change.

The are a few labs that do the test properly. Labcorp is one of them. It's

supposed to be another gauge in the complex Lyme diagnosis. CD57 is specific

marker that chronic Lyme can influence.

Here is an interesting link with more info about CD57:

http://heallyme.wordpress.com/2009/01/28/understanding-the-cd-57-test/

I used Direct labs (uses Labcorp):

http://www.directlabs.com/

The CD57 is $129. I also did the standard CBC panel which is $29. Vitamin D is

on special this month for $39.

I find it's more cost effective for me to do periodic testing on my own then to

pay my alternative MD for office visits to order them since I'm not using my HMO

(they are clueless about Lyme diagnosis and treatment).
