Guest guest
Hi Khaya and marie, I havent read any montak Cia books yet but its on my reading list.Qi (or Chi) Gong (or Chung)(pronounciation the same just depends on the tradition) is often associated with Taoist traditions. There are organ sounds that help stimulate different organs, there are certain stretches that help open up the meridians .Taiji ( or Tai Chi) is actually pre movements done before Qi Gong Taiji is translated as Grand Form .The difference between Taiji and Qi gong ,is that in Taiji you move and direct the energy,In Qi Gong , you follow where the energy moves you. When you are in that state where you feel like you are one with the energy it is sometimes referred to the wuji state. There are many Qi Gong Traditions, every tradition is somewhat different and may include different taiji forms or movements or exercises to stimulate organs. The organ sounds can be used almost as a massage to the organs.Tapping point do the same thing in unblocking energy flow. You might also be interested in TongRen http://tongrenstation.com/ a specific way of tapping that is used in stead of acupuncture and can be done remotely on a acupuncture doll or on the self. The sessions on tongren station are done remotely by different practitioners and you can tune in online. The origin of this came about as an extension of remote Qi Gong .Inremote Qi Gong you use acupuncture needles on the doll, in Tong Ren you use tapping on the points. And thanks for the reminder because I sometimes slack in my practice lol ,now I am reminded to step it up againjan Re: Running/Chi Gong (was Digest Number 1740) Posted by: "khaya.davidson" khaya-davidson@... khaya.davidson Date: Sat Mar 10, 2012 6:53 pm ((PST))Thank you Jan,Betty also recommended a book on Chi gong self massage by Mantak Chia (something like that--I can't read my writing)--are you familiar with that?Khaya"Im not trying to counsel any of you to do anything really special, except to dare to think, and to dare to go with the truth ,and to dare to love completely." -R. Guest guest
Dont I know it khaya.I have Taoist texts I have been meaning to read.Sometimes ,some of them are hard to muddle through as they are almost technical in a kind of mind blowing spiritual exercises and some make such obsolete references I have no clue what they are talking about, so I just read other things until my mind is clearer.i do some self qi gong movements which is a movement meditation. There are also meditations based on what your balancing element is ( after doing a significant bit of mathematical like charting chinese horoscope and elements that affect you as a person.I will look for the book thanksI have just started packing to move too and so I will need all the energy I can get right now 9 especially packing out of an environment with moldand allergies to it.I have a mini ozone machine that only runs 30 minutes at a time ,so I have to keep resetting it while packaging .it helps keep the air a bit cleaner of the mold .So I have two weeks to move out .I need energy, as much as I can muster for the packing.I guess its going to mean doing some qi Gong daily as a morning routine JanRe: Running/Chi Gong Posted by: "khaya.davidson" khaya-davidson@... khaya.davidson Date: Sun Mar 11, 2012 10:35 am ((PDT))I think that was it: Chi Gong Self Massage. But if we google Mantak Chia, hopefully we can find it. Betty said he has written a number of books, but this one is quite basic, and related to what she had just shown us. I am a little conflicted, since I have so many unread and partly-read books and magazines piling up ... mostly on health, yoga, and gardening, so all very important. Guest guest
Hi Jan, Yes, by all means do everything you can to keep yourself energized, grounded, and centered while you are packing and moving--it is so stressful! Aren't you glad you have learned these skills? When I was working, and well after retirement (including our move here), I religiously did yoga every morning, and sometimes in the evening too. But it wasn't enough to protect me from injuring myself, so please be careful. That may be difficult if you have a 2-week deadline. I hope you have a lot of help! I am also very allergic to mold, and so is my husband. Lucky for me, he can smell it very easily. So even though we have woods behind our house, we don't seem to have a mold problem. But we do keep a dehumidifier running in the basement. Mold can be a really serious problem. I'm really glad you're moving. I know very little about taoism, but my husband has been studying zen and tibetan buddhism all his adult life, and he knows quite a bit about taoism, too. I know a little through him, but my main spiritual focus has been yoga (from which buddhism developed). I have a lot of respect for the oriental philosophies. They seem to be a very useful way for us to recover from the demands of life.
