Genetically Modified salmon is coming our way, we it be labeled as such? Don't count on it.. Subject: Genetically Modified Salmon This is scary! Please sign up. Subject: Genetically Modified Salmon Dear Friends, The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is preparing to approve genetically engineered salmon, which would be the first genetically engineered animal on supermarket shelves in the United States. The salmon is engineered to produce hormones year-round that cause the fish to grow at twice its natural rate. But without labels, we'll never know. We need to speak out now, because there's less than one week left until the FDA must respond publicly to a petition calling for labeling of genetically engineered foods -- and we need to make sure the FDA knows how ordinary Americans feel about this issue before that deadline. That's why I submitted a comment to the FDA demanding that genetically engineered foods be labeled. And in about 30 seconds and with just a few clicks, you can join me. Will you tell the FDA that you support mandatory labeling of genetically engineered foods too? http://www.JustLabelIt.org/take-action?track=sotaf http://www.salmonnation.com/fish/gefish.html Please, click on that link and contact the FDA today. They need to hear from more people like you and me.
Guest guest
I hope they don't introduce to the wild salmon population. My husband goes dipnetting in here in Alaska every summer and we have a freezer full of Wild Alaska Salmon. I would hate to think that we had to stop fishing for Salmon. > > Here we go again... Guest guest
Hi , The fear is GMO salmon will somehow cross-bread with wild salmon, very similar to what is happening to the crops today.. It will only take one mistake and then it can't be reversed.. To me, this is very scary and I would bet this one day happens. Boy, aren't you lucky! Dipnetting and you have fresh salmon! Here we have to search for " wild Alaskan " in the stores as so much of it being sold today is " farm " raised and we will not eat it.. I think I am going to go dipnetting for some gators today... :-) Jim > > > > Here we go again...
