Hi Jim,

Somewhere you posted that you take 5000 l-glutamine 3 x daily for ammonia. I

just ran across this comment on

www.pponline.co.uk/forum/talk-performance/glutamine-0 (not sure if the last

digit is a zero or letter O) that states that supplemental glutamine loads the

body with toxic ammonia. Then it goes on to say that a better supplement to

take is OKG or orthinine alpha-ketoglutarate (the ammonia free carbon skeleton

of glutamine). I looked up OKG & the first site that came up was

www.nutrabio.com/Products/okg.htm#.T291xdmYEf1 (not sure if I got that right).

Anyhow, I wasn't able to read all of the info (my eyes get too tired), but I

thought maybe you'd be interested in checking it out. I don't know if it's

right or wrong, but maybe worth looking into if you are taking such a large

amount of glutamine.

Hi Susie,

I used L Ornithine, L Aspartate, by Allergy Research, NH4 Redox by Ecological

Formulas which is specifically designed for Ammonia Detox. I also used the

Jernigan Neuro Antitox II with some success for Ammonia. I had terrible Ammonia

issues when I was coiling for Lyme. Luckily, I am mostly past the Ammonia

nightmare.

,

How were you able to determine that you were experienceing ammonia issues from

coiling & what are the signs that one should be aware of? Thanks.

Hi Susie,

The link you posted is too a health forum and one member posted the info as you

claimed...

Sometimes out of mistake, sometimes out of ignorance, posts can be incorrect.

I try to teach others when doing research, always look for good trusted links to

base

your own judgement on... The Internet is a wonderful place, but it is loaded

with both

good and bad information...

I have several links that claim just the opposite, that L-Glutamine rids the

body

of ammonia... I have also been using L-G for several years as I need it and it

does

seem to work...

Here is a link from Life Extension, they always present good information...

http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag99/sep99-report3.html

>>>>The synthesis of glutamine protects the body, and the brain in particular,

from ammonia toxicity. In fact, the synthesis of glutamine from glutamate is the

key pathway for detoxifying ammonia. Excess ammonia is a crucial factor in the

development of neurodegenerative diseases, since ammonia interferes with the

oxidative metabolism of neurons and thus reduces the production of ATP, our

" energy molecule. " In addition, ammonia gives rise to very harmful

nitrogen-based free radicals.<<<<

You were correct to bring this to the group if you were questioning it in your

mind and you should be,

this way you can feel at ease knowing the truth..

The best way to ensure you post a good link is open the link and directly copy

the URL from the

webpage and past it into your post, this was your link will always work... The

one you posted did work..

Take care,

Jim

Jim,

Thank you for checking that out. I don't know how to open the link & copy it so

I just write it down & then type it.
