Guest guest
I have a question regarding my coil machine. The multimeter lately has been scanning numbers when I try to set it. It will just scan from 12-13 and never settles in on a number. I noticed that the left channel yellow light on the amplifier when turned all the way up will sometimes flash and then other times it works fine. The problem seems to be kind of intermittent. Sometimes it will work fine while other times it doesn't. Do any of you have any ideas on this as to what my be causing it? Can a fuse go partly bad? I have checked all of the connections and nothing seems to be loose. Could it be a setting of some sort that might have accidently been changed on the frequency generator? Guest guest
, You may want to consider making an upgrade to your machine by installing an amp meter. This modification would eliminate the need for the multimeter batteries etc. It is actually a more appropriate and accurate gauge of the output and load on the capacitor array. Guest guest
Terry,    I can't say I agree with you that the conversion is necessary or make Coiling any more precise. The batteries can last years and by just knowing how sensitive my digital meter is from slowly moving the amplitude knob, I know it is as sensitive as I would ever need. As far as accuracy, maybe there is something in measuring the current vs the volts....but it has proven reliable and reading a digital multimeter from reading a small analog dial, well I just can't see getting any more accurate. My take on having the same set up with the multi meter. Not worth the time to make the retrofit. Joe  ,  You may want to consider making an upgrade to your machine by installing an amp meter. Guest guest
Joe, I never said it was necessary. Merely a suggestion to have a permanently installed integrated meter. The amp meter dial is no smaller than the Multimeter. I have been using various meters for decades. The Galvanometer that operates the needle on the amp meter is direct acting rather than a remote reading based on IC chips interpretation. I use both analog and digital meters on a daily basis so I have a great deal of experience with both. The direct acting galvanometer based analog meter is far less susceptible to errors and malfunctions. That being said there is nothing wrong with using the digital multimeter. The retrofit is very easy. The amp meter simply gets wired in series with one of the output leads whether it be inside or outside of the cabinet. Guest guest
, I like Yokogawa Model # 250240ND-ND7/UL 0-15 amps AC try www.yokogawa-usa.com . I made the same recommendation to someone else on the forum. I believe that he ordered the meter and did the retrofit. Maybe he can tell us how it went and how he likes it. Guest guest
Hi Terry, I have to be honest with you. I am a techno bonehead. I am really not sure I could retrofit the meter into my cabinet. My son or husband might be able to, but probably not a high priority for either one of them. I think it would be a lot nicer to have the meter on board instead as a separate periferal. I live in Alaska and sending my heavy oak switch box out to have someone do it would be to expensive to ship. Thanks for the suggestion though. > > > > > > > > I have a question regarding my coil machine. The multimeter lately has been scanning numbers when I try to set it.
