Guest guest
Jerri, Could it be that it relaxed him and allowed him to go into a deeper stage of restorative sleep that maybe he usually doesn¹t go into? I just wondered, because the child of mine who sleeps the longest is the one who is the most tired... he never wakes up well rested... he just isn¹t getting restorative sleep. He could sleep for three days and be exhausted. Just a thought. Caroline G. Guest guest
Some people become more alert and " hyper " after taking antihistamines. Most get sleepy, but some do have the opposite results. Guest guest
I started giving my son Melatonin and it has changed our life. He is almost 2 1/2 and now goes to bed at a regular time each night and naps at a regular time. He also wakes up now at a regular time. We have never been able to get him on a schedule due to his irritibility and inability to calm. He now gets a " restful " sleep (doesn't wake up in the night) which we believe has also contributed to great strides in his behavior, speech and communication skills. Guest guest
Caroline, that makes sense to me. I know it was more than the Triaminic because I gave it to him again, one allergic morning and it wasn't the same. But I think he definitely had some better sleep and he stayed relaxed longer from it. His big problem now is restless legs (2 years now) and I've been trying everything everyone here has suggested and I'm having no luck. I just removed the kyodophilous to see if this will help. Thanks for your reply. I lost a day of emails. So I might have missed others. Jerri > I started giving my son Melatonin and it has changed our life. Guest guest
Jerri, I had restless legs when I was pregnant and I wouldn¹t wish that on anyone... I hope that you can find the trigger. It¹s a terrible feeling. Hey, if you lost e-mails you could go to and read the day¹s posts to see what you missed. Caroline G. Guest guest
Hey Jerri - If the probiotics are a trigger for the restless legs, it will often take 5 days or more for that to settle down after stopping them. You probably already know that but thought I'd mention it anyway. Does a heating pad at night help him get to sleep? That is the one thing that helps my son when it gets triggered. What other meds is he on? I'm having a hard time remembering the triggers. Guest guest
I will definitely try the heating pad. He is on Acyclovir, Tenex, Wellbutrin, Celexa, Fluconazole, Allegra, Nasalcrom, Iron, and I just got the Immunovir in the mail to try. Dr G said this is not the best immune modulator he hopes for but it is helping some children and it may or may not help my son but worth a try. Thanks for all the input. I have tried many of your suggestions through the years.
