Guest guest
A " recovering vegetarian " exposes the dangers of soy  http://www.douglassreport.com/see_video.html Don't fall for the " soy is good for you " baloney the vegetarian community tries to shove down your throat. Here are the facts, plain and simple… Soy damages your thyroid, and leads to hypothyroidism Soy increases your need for vitamin D Soy blocks the absorption of protein Soy blocks the absorption of key minerals, such as calcium, magnesium, and iron Soy is estrogenic and can contribute to early puberty in girls …And that's just the short list! Guest guest
I am a vegetarian and in fairness I would not dream of pushing 'soy is good for you' down anybody's throat and I am alive to any information which has scientifically relevant health information, for example phenolic foods ARE unhealthy for at least two of my kids along with dairy and wheat so they are a no no. I think there is conflicting information on soy and Dr Mercola (whose link I have included) has been criticised for some of his views which are said to not always relate to scientific evidence but I am aware that studies are currently being conducted to establish more facts on soy consumption and it's possible health implications particularly as soy is present in so many processed foods. I have significantly reduced soy for what I consider to be a good reason namely that my son was born with a mild hypospadius (incomplete foreskin) he went on to suffer a significant regression at 8 to 9 months and during my subsequent research I came across a British study which found a five times higher ratio of genital abnormality in boys delivered to vegetarian mothers (which obviously I was) who ate a soy rich diet (which obviously I did at that time). _http://www.mercola.com/article/soy/avoid_soy.htm_ (http://www.mercola.com/article/soy/avoid_soy.htm) I have included some links about DNA and genes which I liked because they are easily understood and this was certainly an aspect I struggled with in the beginning in trying to understand how DNA and genes were possibly implicated in my children's problems when there had been no family history. _http://www.brandeis.edu/now/2008/september/dna-study.html_ (http://www.brandeis.edu/now/2008/september/dna-study.html) _http://learn.genetics.utah.edu/content/begin/tour/_ (http://learn.genetics.utah.edu/content/begin/tour/) In a message dated 07/03/2009 19:14:09 GMT Standard Time, gabrieladevelbiss@... writes: A " recovering vegetarian " exposes the dangers of soy _http://www.douglasshttp://www.http://wwwhttp_ (http://www.douglassreport.com/see_video.html) Don't fall for the " soy is good for you " baloney the vegetarian community tries to shove down your throat. Guest guest
I think a real irritation regarding soy is that it is an ingredient hidden in so many foods particularly the processed variety!
