Guest guest
Hi , We live in Centennial,CO and started seeing Dr.G. in mid January. Our son is almost 10 and was diagnosed w/pdd-nos etc...at about 2yrs of age. He also suffers from an unknown ear pain for the past 2yrs. We've taken him to 6 ENT's including Children's(by the way I work at Children's Hospital in Aurora) & they have found nothing either. After discussing with Dr.G. it's convincing that the viral issue in his brain is what is causing the pain in his ear. It's making sense to me because he's never had ear infections or any other issues that an ENT could see. So, your son's issue with his ear may be the same, viral caused. My son has been on an anti-viral for about 6wks now. In the begnning was really bad with die offs. But the past 2 days we're seeing more calmness & less holding ears. It looks like his ear pain is reducing slowly. I don't want to say this too soon but it's looking positive. His ear pain has been a nightmare for him & for the whole family. We've always told his syblings to keep it quiet or play in another room etc etc. so it'll be a " miracle " for us if that goes away. You should really make an appointment to see Dr.Goldberg in CA. We only flew once for the 1st visit & we're doing phone consult once a month. We do all the lab work from here too. Good luck and God bless > > > > > Hello, > > > > > > My son's psychiatrist is interested in switching him > > > from Prozac (5 mg) to Celexa (10 mg), which I know > > > nothing about, except that it's another SSRI. Guest guest
Hi , Yes we were starting to get excited too! But I knew I was saying it too soon because today and starting around yesterday evening were sooo...bad for my son. He's starting to scream & cry again, running around the house and waking at 4am. Doesn't want to go outside, and refusing to eat etc. In general very miserable today! In a way we're happy that it's a sign of die off, I think. But since we don't know the outcome of all this, it's frustrating. It looked like he was getting calmer and more focused etc. but I think that only happend for a couple of days. Then we started nizoral(1/2tab) and after 4days on it, today I believe is the beginning of the die off. We get really confused wether it's a die off or other issues??? I just wrote on another post to ask what people have experienced with die offs, especially with his appetite. He doesn't even want to touch food right now. I've been trying to get firm with him so he can eat a little bit because with all these meds I don't want his body to get hurt & some actually say take with food. Not sure if this part of the die off or if he's coming down with something??? thanks a lot > > > > === message truncated === May the Lord bless you and keep you! Guest guest
We went through similar things with the three boys. My kids have flu like symptoms and become very agitated and hyper. I was able to confirm that this was indeed die off when Noah, who initially responded to Valtrex, stopped responding and his titers became elevated again. We switched to Famvir and I saw the same die off response. I remember Noah improving at first on both meds until die off kicked in, but after it was over, he was brighter and more " with it. " Good luck and I hope Joab is feeling better soon.
