Guest guest Posted March 6, 2009 Report Share Posted March 6, 2009 We go to see Dr. G today and that is one of my questions. How much and how often. The good news is that the regular blood work Dr. G does should highlight any problems. Noah takes famvir, Diflucan, paxil, Tenex and Zyrtec. I, too, was reluctant to add anything else, but after seeing the pictures he was drawing at school, I decided to give it a try. All of his pics of himself had band aids on his head After a week of unpredictable and bizarre behavior with lots of agitation, I decided to give it a try: 200mg in the morning. He had a great week at school. It could be coincidence, but I don't think so. All the best, Robyn > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > From: Bekele > > > > <bekeleelizabeth@ > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Subject: Re: > Puzzling > > New > > > > Behaviors > > > > > > > > groups (DOT) > com > > > > > > > > Date: Friday, February > 27, > > 2009, 3:10 > > > > PM > > > > > > > > Robyn, > > > > > > > > Joab had a fluid in the > left > > ear on our > > > > 1st > > > > > > visit, > > > > > === message truncated === > > > > > > May the Lord bless you and keep you! > > > > > > Visit my blog > > > > http://bloominwhere yourplanted. blogspot. com/ > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest guest Posted March 6, 2009 Report Share Posted March 6, 2009 Better than pain. It seems like a lot of meds, but they really helped my kids soooo much. Sometimes I had to give regular tylenol. Their liver profiles improved on the meds (especially diflucan, which is technically supposed to be rough on the liver), the way the looked improved. I had many times that I felt horrified at all the meds I was pumping in their little bodies, but then I would remember the immediate gains, how one's anemia improved almost immediately (after trying to treat for a year) on the meds, how their labs normalized, how they perked up and got more energy and brighter eyes.... and my fear would ease up.\ HTH ________________________________ From: Bekele <bekeleelizabeth@...> Sent: Friday, March 6, 2009 12:50:05 AM Subject: ibuprofen/anti-inflammation Robyn, Do you give Noah the advil every morning?? and has he been taking it for a long time? I've been tempted to give Joab motrin every day for his pain but am afraid it's too much medication(famvir, septra,claritin, now on nizoral) so i've not been doing it all the time. Dr. G. said to do once or even twice/day if he seems to be in pain. I gave it to him around the 1st time we started famvir, but haven't lately?? I don't feel comfortable about the daily dose???? what do you think? thanks > > > > > > > > > > > > > From: Bekele > > > <bekeleelizabeth@ > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Subject: Re: Puzzling > New > > > Behaviors > > > > > > > groups (DOT) com > > > > > > > Date: Friday, February 27, > 2009, 3:10 > > > PM > > > > > > > Robyn, > > > > > > > Joab had a fluid in the left > ear on our > > > 1st > > > > > visit, > > > === message truncated === > > > May the Lord bless you and keep you! > > > Visit my blog > > http://bloominwhere yourplanted. blogspot. com/ Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest guest Posted March 6, 2009 Report Share Posted March 6, 2009 I have to cut in here...I do have some qualms about using NSAIDS for a long period of time. Tylenol is notorious for being extremely hard on the liver. And Advil (Ibuprofen) less so but it is still an issue. I know our kiddos livers are checked regularly but once they are damaged you its hard (if not impossible to go back) and they get fatty livers or other damage. Its important to find out what the underlying trigger may be in these kids that are causing an inflammatory reaction. Hope this helps someone --- <thecolemans4@...> wrote: > Better than pain. Guest guest Posted March 6, 2009 Report Share Posted March 6, 2009 I couldn't agree with you more about finding out the underlying cause that is causing the inflammation. But what if we can help our kiddos brain function better by increasing blood as an effect of reduced brain inflammation? What if we can help their guts heal by reducing the inflammation that is damaging their gut walls? What if we can help the immune system cool down by not allowing it to create inflammatory substances? What if we can accelerate our children's recovery? I am concerned about my son's liver too and I give him LiverCare daily and run lab tests every 6 weeks to make sure he is healthy, but how much more dangerous can Ibuprofen be to the liver compare to Diflucan or Nizoral? And all of us do it on a daily basis and some parents have been doing it for years. What it has worked for us is to do 10 days of Ibuprofen then stop for 20 days, then do it for 10 more days and then stop for 20 day and so on. In my mind this protocol is not as hard to the liver as giving him Diflucan every single day. Guest guest Posted March 7, 2009 Report Share Posted March 7, 2009 I am glad this helps you but personally I am tired of using supps that dont work, may be impure, and arent proven to work. Also, I trust Dr. and the Protocol. It gets kids better. I don't want to stray from their advice. They have done a great job with my kid thus far. - --- <jrodrig6605@...> wrote: > I couldn't agree with you more about finding out the > underlying cause that > is causing the inflammation. Guest guest Posted March 7, 2009 Report Share Posted March 7, 2009 I also follow the protocol with Dr. G and it has worked great for us. I told Dr. G last month when we flew in to his office about how Ibuprofen has been the medication that has given us the biggest improvements every time we give to our son. I was thinking that he was going to bite my head off when I told him, but I wanted to be honest with him. He didn't bite my head off and he said that Ibuprofen might do work, but that he doesn't prescribe it because parents might misuse it and can cause gastric issues. He didn't tell me to stop it and he did give us complements on how well our son is doing and was very pleased by it. Reducing inflammation doesn't go against the protocol, is just that the right medications for our kids hasn't been developed yet. Guest guest Posted March 8, 2009 Report Share Posted March 8, 2009 We saw Dr. G on Friday and I asked him about the ibuprofen. His goal, he said, would be to eliminate the cause of the inflammation, but until Noah's immune system is more normalized, giving ibuprofen in the morning is fine if it continues to help. We really do notice a difference. It seems to prevent the headaches. For the first time in about a week, we didn't give it to him yesterday, and he had a headache in the afternoon. Of course, everyone should check with their physician since every child is different.
