OT: Root canals

I've only had one done so far, I also

was surprised at how little the pain was, I also didn't use any pain meds,

not even tylenol, etc. I had a bone graft put in and had to wait

for months and have it re-opened have the implant put in, hardly any pain,

let it heal, then months later went back (go back as soon as the surgeon

says to, I waited too long and the bone grew over the implant and had to

chip thru it to add the abutments) to have porcelain tooth put on.

I also don't have them give me lidocaine

(makes my heart race), I use carbocaine instead (takes a little longer

to numb you), doesn't give me the jitters, there's also another novocaine

out there, but I can't remember the name.

If I had more money, I would also have

more implants put in.

Susie -

I was shocked how little pain there was, but these folks were very skilled.

Never used the pain meds they gave me; did follow the course of antibiotics.

I know it's different for every person, depending on the condition of the

bone and the skill of the dental surgeon, but if I had the money, I'd get

the other one done in a heartbeat if they felt the conditions were the

same.

Best -

from others. The only problem is I don't know if my gums are good enough

to anchor an implant, because if I have one of my root canals out, I won't

have anything to chew on. So that's a big decision because implants open

up a whole other can of worms with possible problems. Comments?
