Guest guest
Hmm... more information:http://www.tldp.com/issue/183/Cats%20Claw%20and%20Essiac.htmCat's Claw & Essiac, Mother Nature's Wondrous Healersby N. Steinberg, CNCHealth Store News, Oct/Nov. 19961983-2002 Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients"This was done because the original formula contains a high level of oxalic acids which can contribute to forming kidney stones. Brusch and Caisse determined that the correct amount of watercress would help the kidneys flush the acids out of the system.""Why Commercial Essiac and Most Essiac Knock-Off Products Are Only Partially Effective (Author's addendum to the above article as follows): The original Essiac Formula given to Rene Caisse can be traced back to the native Ojibway Indians of Canada. It is a formula that she later simplified utilizing four herbs: Burdock root, Slippery Elm bark, Turkey Rhubarb root and Sheep Sorrel. Of these four, the first three are referred to as hard tissue herbs (roots and/or barks) while the fourth is a soft tissue herb (leaves and/or flowers). Hard tissue herbs must be boiled in order to release all of their medicinal properties, while soft tissue herbs must be simmered at a temperature not exceeding 140 degrees. The majority of these products available commercially today have all the herbs mixed together with instructions to either boil or simmer them and they cannot be prepared separately. If all herbs are boiled, the enzymes and other medicinal properties in the Sheep Sorrel will be destroyed. If all herbs are simmered together, much of the medicinal properties in the Burdock root, Slippery Elm bark and Turkey Rhubarb root will not be released."Hi Debbie,Had you followed my many posts on Essiac tea, I stated the links I posted were the only trusted links about Essiac tea. Other sites kinda make up their own instructions with false information. This is a very important and successful detox protocol and new members need to get the correct information about this important protocol. The link you posted has incorrect information and the prices charged for Essiac tea herbs is very high. The only trusted site for Essiac tea is (no need to go to this site, I have summarized the best info further down on this post): http://www.healthfreedom.info/essiac_info.htm Here is the proper method to store Essiac herbs, they DO NOT need to be stored in amber glass containers as the link you posted states, clear containers are fine as long as they are stored in a dark kitchen cabinet or closet.. http://www.healthfreedom.info/essiac_info.htm >>>>Essiac tea herbs [dried mixture] should be stored in air-tight containers in a cool, dry, dark place. It is best to store Essiac in glass containers. Essiac tea herbs are light-sensitive (the liquid tea is also light-sensitive). However, it is not necessary to store the dried herbs in brown glass jars as long as it is stored in the dark. Canning jars are great for this because they have tight-fitting lids. For long-term storage it is best to avoid storing Essiac tea in plastic containers or plastic bags. Herbs from herb companies are shipped in plastic bags or plastic jars. However, if not used right away, the herbs should be transferred to air-tight glass containers to avoid storing in plastic containers for long-term storage. Some plastics can taint the herbs with toxic substances over a long period of time or if over-heated.<<<<< The prices to purchase Essiac tea herbs listed on the link you posted http://www.herbalhealer.com/essiac.html are absolutely outrageous... According to this site, you purchase one packet of herbs that makes 2 gallons of tea, they claim this is a one months supply for a cancer patient, 2 months for other ailments and the cost for this is $21.95. If a one months supply of this tea is a gallon, then it is greatly watered down. Something is very wrong with this statement as a normal months supply is a quart... ONE QUART of Essiac tea made with quality herbs from Mountain Rose Herbs or other good herb suppliers is a one month supply and this is made with 1 ounce of fresh herbs... Mountain Rose sells an Essiac Blend, this is the correct amount of herbs already blended and ready to use... Cost is $29.95 and this makes 20 months of Essiac tea... This is 18 months more than what is in the link you posted. As in my many posts, here is the best way to buy Essiac tea herbs: If you buy the ESSIAC BLEND (highly suggested) This is the link: Buy the top item "1lb Essiac Blend organic............ $29.00 http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/search/search.php?refine=y & keywords=essiac+blend & x=10 & y=9 The link you posted also sells Essiac tea concentrate and capsules, these are basically useless as I have posted many times as neither are Essiac tea as Essiac is a decoction as you will read here: >>>>>http://www.healthfreedom.info/essiac_info.htm >>>>> There is an incredible amount of disinformation about Essiac on the internet. Therefore, if you have arrived here feeling confused from reading the many contradictory claims made by websites that sell Essiac, you will be glad you took the time to visit the links below. HealthFreedom.info does not sell any Essiac products. Our aim is provide the most accurate and unbiased information about Rene Caisse and her herbal cancer treatments. <<<< http://www.healthfreedom.info/Cancer%20Essiac.htm ADDITIONAL TIPS & INFORMATION >>>>>The preparation of Essiac is as important as the formula itself. Essiac is a decoction, not an infusion. An infusion is what people make when they put a tea bag in a cup of hot water. Generally speaking, an infusion tends to extract vitamins and volatile oils from leaves and flowers. A decoction is used to extract minerals, bitter components, etc. from hard materials such as roots, bark or seeds by boiling for a few minutes and then allowing the herbs to steep for several hours. Entrepreneurs often sell Essiac imitations in tincture form (herbs in alcohol) or in gelatin capsules; neither form is Essiac because Essiac is a tea and, more specifically, a decoction that must be made in a certain way in order to achieve the kind of results that Nurse Caisse was demonstrating. <<<<<< ************************************************************************************************** And so that we don't confuse new members about this great detox tea, here is my information that contains the only links I would trust about Essiac tea: Essiac Tea This is the correct info about Essiac tea.... The link to buy and the recipe to make is at the top of this email, please be sure to check out the links I have researched below this as these truly are the only trusted links I will use for this tea... Most Essiac info on the "net is not correct, it has been changed by resellers to make you think they are selling their herbs for less... The original Essiac tea discovered by Nurse Caisse was made from 4 herbs, many resellers lead you to believe she changed this to 8 herbs. What they have done is add in 4 inexpensive herbs and since they sell the herbs (blended) by the pound, it actually costs them less per pound because of the added inexpensive herbs. WHERE TO BUY ESSIAC HERBS There is a much better way of buying these herbs from Mountain Rose Herbs, their herbs are organic and very fresh... They use the correct 4 herbs in the correct amount and sell an Essiac Blend. This means you do not have to buy the individual herbs and weigh out the correct amount, they've done it for you! Cost is $29.00 for one pound plus shipping, this should last one person about 20 months. I suggest making 1 1/2 pints (24 ounces) as we use 1 oz of the tea concentrate per day, so this will last about 24 days... The tea should be consumed daily for 3 weeks, and not consumed for one week each month (basically 3 weeks on the tea, 1 week off). I don't drink the tea for the first 7 days of month and then I drink it every day for the rest of the month, thus the 1 1/2 pint recipe is exact! Mountain Rose does sell the individual herbs (links listed below), I don't believe there is any cost advantage to this and it is more work as you have to measure and blend the herbs yourself. The Blend you buy from Mountain Rose should be put into a covered glass container and stored in a dark kitchen cabinet. If you buy the ESSIAC BLEND (highly suggested) This is the link: Buy the top item "1lb Essiac Blend organic............ $29.00 http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/search/search.php?refine=y & keywords=essiac+blend & x=10 & y=9 How to Make Essiac Tea Concentrate Do not use any aluminum utensils as aluminum can react with Essiac tea. Supplies Needed: Enameled or stainless steel pot or Corning casserole dish (8 - 12 quart size). Covered glass jug (for the liquid tea concentrate) that will be placed in the fridge.. Strainer, funnel and a glass measuring cup (Pyrex) wood stirring spoon. You also going to need a small scale that weighs in ounces. If you need to buy a scale, just be sure it measures in ounces, getting one that also measures grams (.01) is good for measuring powdered supplements.. Dry Measure Equivalents 3 teaspoons 1 tablespoon 1/2 ounce 14.3 grams 2 tablespoons 1/8 cup 1 ounce 28.3 grams Gram scales on eBay, most also measure ounces, just be sure it does: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40 & _trksid=p5197.m570.l1313 & _nkw=gram+scale+.01 & _sacat=See-All-Categories This one does measure in ounces... http://www.ebay.com/itm/300g-x-0-01g-Mini-Digital-Jewelry-Pocket-GRAM-Scale-LCD-/350498545350?pt=UK_AudioElectronicsVideo_Video_TelevisionSetTopBoxes & hash=item519b575ec6#ht_1447wt_1208 You will use 1/2 ounce of the dry herbs (Essiac Blend) to make a pint, or 3/4 oz to make 1 1/2 pints or 1 ounce to make a quart of liquid concentrate... Since we drink this tea for 3 weeks (21 days) on, 1 week off, I feel it is best to make 1 1/2 pints (24 ounces) of the tea concentrate if this is used for one person. The daily use of the tea concentrate is 1 ounce, so for 3 weeks you will use 21 ounces, thus the 1 1/2 pint size works best. I make this tea concentrate just before going to bed so it can steep while I sleep. Always store the tea concentrate on the bottom shelf of the fridge as it is coldest there and the tea will last longer. Here's how you make the tea concentrate. 1 1/2 Pint recipe: use 24 ounces (make 26 ounces as some will dissipate) of distilled water, add to a large glass, ceramic or stainless steel pot (8 to 12 quart size), add in 3/4 ounce of the Essiac Blend dry herbs and hard boil for 10 minutes, then place on very low heat (just enough to keep the tea warm) for 12 hours (lights off, light affects the tea). After the 12 hours is up, reheat the pot to steaming, but not boiling, turn off heat and allow tea concentrate to sit for several minutes, then pour the tea through a plastic or stainless steel strainer into your glass jug and refrigerate (I actually stain into a bowl first, then pour into my glass jug, easier. The stuff in the strainer is also very healthy, I actually give it to my dogs in their food.. I personally won't eat it as this can mean too much detox since we are drinking the tea
