3.5 to start. I think my fatigue is related to the warming temps here. I can't wait to start the LDN. It will probably come by Mon. or Tues. Trista

(does Challis get the fatigue also?)

Re: Sharon's LDN update and life update

Sharon,

Sounds like you are having bursts of energy like I did with the LDN. I noticed right away that I could do more with out the pain and returing fatique all day long. I have to watch what I do because if I do feel extra good I tend to push my self and pay for it the next day with fatique

I have only had about a weeks worth of BAD days while on LDN ( I take at night) in the last year and a half. I did have a problem with my left hand in Sept of 06 I lost the ability to move my hand I could not lift a finger litary. It only lasted 8 days but I was in shock and horrified to not be able to tell my hand or fingers what to do and they do it. If you start having bad nights while on 4.5 they (my docs) suggested to me to just go back to 3.0 for a week and 2 days a month I dont take any LDN just to make sure that I do not get "toxic" it has worked very well for me. SO HAPPY YOUR DOING GOOD.!!!!

So far we have a dozen plus tomato plants (Early Girl, Beefsteak, and Cherry), planted corn seeds as well as some heirloom Red Malabar Spinach seeds. Yes Challis gets very fatigued, too. It's lousy, isn't it? I started at 3 mg. and I think I could have easily started at 3.5. I'm excited for you and I'm crossing my fingers for good results. Sharon Re: Sharon's LDN update and life update

the one good thing I can say about my MS is that I never have had fatigue with my MS thank goodness. Does your fatigue force you to rest or can you ignore it and get through it with medicine?

Bill, most days I can ignore it and be just fine with sitting down for a little while or just pushing through. There are those days when I just feel to weak to do most anything and have to stop. It is mostly in the summer or if the heater gets turned on to high in the winter. Heat is my worst reactor and I just watch the weather.... but here in Oklahoma that is not always right. We use to live in Arizona, a long time ago back in the early 1990's and even though I wasn't DX'ed with MS I had really bad problems from the heat. My first summer in AZ it was 122 degrees. My husband just returned from there, and wanted to know why I would never go back out there to live, DUH.... heat is my enemy. I gained some weight since the begining of MS I think that has allot to do with fatigue too. (depressed eating)

Heat is my biggest enemy when my MS first hit me and went on disability I thought this won't be too bad I can set up my chair out back and take it easy in the sun which I love to do. I found out very quick that was not going to work. I use a walker all the time but can still ride our riding lawn mower and I tried my first year to mow on a hot day and it was a bad way to find out how bad the heat was on me. The heat messes with both my legs and vision. I also have skipped many of my boys summer sportting events.

I love to mow the lawn, but for a few years now I can only be out on cool days, overcasted cloudy days. I can still only stay out for about 20-30 minutes at a time and thats pushing it. Thats just being outside as a supervisor not getting to do any of the work. (or very little) I miss going out and getting a tan, just laying there, which I know is bad for me. But now to get hot enough to tan takes my energy to all time level low. I think I need to look for a tanning bed, at least I would feel like I was getting some sun. Bill, what a blessing to not have the fatigue too. I know that I feel really bad because my boys want to go do things in the summer, and sometimes I can't do it. My fatigue is so overwhelming, that a nap won't fix it. I could literally sleep well all night, wake horribly fatigues, sleep all day and still go to bed that night. My legs feel weak (whole body really) and like Jello. I know we both have young children who like to be active. I wish I could bottle their energy! Trista

With my nocturnal leg pain I couldn't stand any further disturbance than I already had. :) Now our group member Dana has started the LDN clinical trial at UCSF. I haven't had any sleep disturbance at all, in fact, I am sleeping better than I have in years. And I'm feeling better. I'm feeling better! Yesterday I scrubbed my bathtub and toilet and did some other cleaning. This morning I did some laundry and cleaned the "crabetorium" for the hermit crabs. I'm waiting to see how the rest of the day goes. My ribs are hurting right now so I may have been pushing it yesterday by bending over the bathtub and toilet for so long to scrub them. The forecast is for 89 today and for the next few days. It's going to be in the low 90s again by the weekend. This is spring in the Arizona Desert. lol We are planting our "garden". So far we have a dozen plus tomato plants (Early Girl, Beefsteak, and Cherry), planted corn seeds as well as some heirloom Red Malabar Spinach seeds. There are a ton of sunflower seeds planted all around the yard. We just buy Black Oil Sunflower seeds that are sold for birdseed. It's cheap and gives a variety of sunflowers. There are also marigolds and some other climbing flowers planted. What's going on with all of you?Sharon

Trista, AMEN to that. It would be so much easier to have a pill to give us energy with out any side effects. My doc said there are some pills out there to help, but I don't want the side effects to go along with the problems I already have. Trista wrote: Bill, what a blessing to not have the fatigue too. I can't do it. My fatigue is so overwhelming, that a nap won't fix it. I could literally sleep well all night, wake horribly fatigues, sleep all day and still go to bed that night. My legs feel weak (whole body really) and like Jello. I know we both have young children who like to be active. I wish I could bottle their energy! , I've tried Ritalin before, and it did nothing for me that I could tell. Just felt a little jittery. I'm sure my Dr. would let me try something else if I asked. I'm just on too many pills as it is. Never thought I'd be 36 and falling apart. lol. Trista

Bill, Mine would be 1. Wish I could mow the yard on a beautiful hot summer day with out any body malfuntions 2. Wish that sitting still at the movies or show was not painful. 3. Wish I could drive to see my family more. 2-10 hours to drive. 4. Wish I could carry my grand daughter around more. 5. Wish that my family understood how MS feels just for 1 day. (my kids and husband) even though the're great to me I still have those days when I know they think it's all in my head. Lots of wishes, none are to ever be though. MS-Bill

wrote: Do both of you have a wish list to go with your MS? Mine is. 1 Wish I had another day to walk around the neighborhood with my family. My walker makes it impossible. 2. Wish I could still do simple things like just climb a ladder to change a light bulb or help paint our 9 foot ceiling. 3. Wish I had another chance to visit Mammoth Cave again for

the cave tours. 4. Wish I could still dive off a high diving board at the pool. 5. Wish I could both bowl and rollerskate with my family. I could go on and on. I am very thankful for my wife and 2 boy's though having good support through this MS is very important to me. What all do you wish for? Where were you living on June 26, 1990? Sharon Re: Sharon's LDN update and life update

on a as needed basis. And you dont withdraw, and side effects are minimal(I think)

I take Cymbalta 90mg, Klonipin 0.5mg three times a day, Flexeril 10 mg twice a day, Neurontin 1800mg a day, Colace 100mg twice a day, miralax 17grams with 8 oz h20, ibuprofen 400mg, pepcid 20mg. I think that's all. I have to do a med box each week so that I remember to take my meds. I also have hydrocodone5mg as needed, Toradol 10mg as needed, and I also have some left over Methadone a dr tried to put me on. I don't remember much during that time period. in Texascassandra workmn wrote: Hey .What meds do you take?Im gonna ask for provigil once I go back to UCD.Im taking 2400 mg of neurontin and I feel the same now since before I started it.So I think thatl be the first to go out the window. The baclofen is what saves my but.I was using a walker everyday til I started that then moved to the cane.I think it may need highered cuz the spasms are worse especially in my back feels like im being jolted by a taser gun or something.lol.no iv never been tasered just cant think of a good example.I take 60mg of baclofen I wonder how high you can go? Bird poop.... White Vinegar will remove even the worst splotches. If they are

really bad, you might have to let the white vinegar soak in for a minute or

two.. sometimes three... But white vinegar sprayed on bird poop (any kind of

bird) will clean it right up.

We have parrots, and learned early on that White Vinegar for the doo-doo's and

then peroxide for cleaning their cage. Bird's lungs do not regenerate or fix

themselves from any damage they receive, and strong chemicals cause damage...

and I don't know who came up with this cleaning solution for bird rooms, but

they did and it works great.... They also found out that the combination of

spraying white vinegar then peroxide (two spray bottles) in any order on a

kitchen counter, and wiping it dry, will kill even the Salmonella bacteria... go

figure.. something so cheap and so easy to clean with..

Be careful with your teflon skillets as well, if you use them... they produce

toxic fumes when overheated... fatal for birds, and not real healthy for humans

either.

Not sure about ducks, but suspect it would be any avian creature, but you can't

burn candles with lead in the wicks (I think it's lead.. it's some kind of metal

if it's not lead).. If you use candles, a candle warmer is best, but if you

actually light them, then be sure that they state " lead free " on the bottom or

somewhere... Any imported candle is a danger, because they aren't regulated like

they are here in the states. My niece told me though that Mall-Marts (Wal-Mart)

candles specifically state whatever the metal is.. Free on the bottoms... No

incense.. no chlorox close to duckie, or anywhere near where he can breathe

it... I'm careful with spic-n-span even.. not sure if the fumes from it are too

strong for my fids (feathered kids) but don't want to risk it.. though if you're

cleaning carpets, and have some tough spots you can use a capful of ammonia to a

gallon of the water that goes into the carpets scrubber (hey.. ammonia brightens

the carpet color too.. go figure... well

my mother used to soak white socks in a bucket of ammonia water before she'd

wash them... my brother's & dad's white socks always looked brand new...)..

And FIDS, can be a lot of company... and they are much much like doggies.. they

don't realize they aren't human... Got one little green goober that either

stressed out enough over our move - 4 years ago - or the acquisition of a dog -

or the fact that he was now in hormonal (breeding age) that he started to pluck

out his pretty green feathers.. now we have a partially nekkid partially green

parrot... Though he stills holler... " Gimme Kiss!!!!!!

mmmmmmmmmmmmwwwwwwwwaaaaa " ... he also sings Lollipop and Hey Good Lookin'.... I

knew he sang the Heyyyyyyyy Good Lookin' part... but was kinda surprise when I

was cleaning cages one day and hear.. " I got a hot rod Ford and two dollar bill "

and he seems to be particularly fond of Elvis

Hope your Duckie brings as many smiles as my FIDS have brought!

...

I only take the Baclofen more than once a day, and then not always.. (don't

really care how the doc prescribes them to be taken.. if I don't need the 2nd

one, I'm not taking it, and if I need the 3rd, I will take it, though he

prescribed 2 a day)... Provigil, I sometimes break in two, and only take 100mg

instead of the 200mg.. depends on how I feel in the morning after I've gotten

up...

But my trick to remembering to take my pills???? Even the ones I take once a

day... is to have them all lined up here on my computer desk... now I do spend

most of my waking hours in front of the computer, so that helps.. but the fact

that every time I reach for something on my desk ( calls it the " black

hole " ) I knock the pill bottles over...

The pillbox thing that Sharon uses is a good idea.. and if I get to the point

that I'm taking more than what I'm taking now, I will probably use them as

well.... I know that my brother takes (or took) at least 4 different meds each

day at different times and different dosages.. it was horrendous trying to keep

track of how many of which type he got at this time during the day.. And I

didn't live really close by (20 minute drive)... and my dad just tossed his arms

up in the air and said I give up!!... So I purchased enough pillboxes and a

Permanent Marker for a week of pills.. I think it amounted to like 21 cases..

and once a week I'd go up and put all his pills in order for him.. all he needed

to do at breakfast was open that days breakfast slot and take his pills.. same

for lunch and dinner.. he might have even had some bedtime meds.. I don't

remember too well, and he has since gone into a personal care home, where the

nursing staff keeps track of his meds for him (they have to..

left on his own.... it can get to be a hairy situation.. his meds are for a

mental illness)..

Now.. when my mother was on hospice, they had a TON of medications for her, and

my dad REFUSED to giver her ANY of them (so I had to move in for the duration)

because he was afraid that he'd screw up on her morphine and give her too much..

or get the other ones confused and really well.. bring the end about a lot

sooner than would happen naturally. Well, I took my computer with me when I

went to stay (it was my sanity at the time, my lifeline).. but I created a

spreadsheet, that I printed out and taped to the kitchen cupboard doors with all

the medications and dosages and times.. So that even a child could understand it

(I did have to sleep sometime, though most of the time dad woke me up when it

was time for meds)... But I left spaces where as each medication was given the

space could be checked off.. then there wasn't any question about did she get

it, or didn't she? I also tied a piece of yarn around an ink pen and tied that

to the door handle of the cupboard.. Always a pen ha

ndy that way...

" Necessity IS the mother of invention " ............ Did I mention that I invented

the automatic toilet seat lifter???? LOL..

My Grandfather's second wife passed that way...she took her meds too many times in a day...Lordy knows what all she was on, I know if I took mine more then once I'd be fine, nothing I take is that dangerous!

I keep all my meds and supplements in a small carrying case, except for the liquids in gelcap, they stay in the fridge. I have a ritual, every day at the same time I take them all, since it is so habitual I tend to not mess them up. Only time I really have to "think" about it is when I add a new supplement or run out of something.

My pill box is a tool chest

I have it locked up from the kids and I take it camping.

When I take it camping I have an ice chest in it that keeps things cool for at least 2 days.

When it is at home it is locked and in a closed off place in my room.

The kids all know that it is off limits.
