Guest guest
I had a pt that did that. I would fix her med box by taking all her meds out of her box, as i put the pills in the medbox I'd put the bottle in the lock box. If something that needed called in for the next week I would sit it to the left of the box. When my pill of bottles were empty, then i READ THE SCRIPT#'S to the pt's husband and then put those in the lock box. That pt had a habit of taking too much of her pain or nerve pills so the bottles were kept locked up. The other nice thing is if you go to the hopital like I had to you just pick up your case and when they ask what you take you give it to them. Guest guest
Exactly! Being a home health nurse, if I had to send pt pt out the EMT's need that info right then in case the need to administer something. Really, we all should have a med alert bracelet so if we're in an accident they'll now to look in wallets or call the 800 # for more info. Guest guest
I don't carry a purse anymore, though when I first started have balance issues, I carried a backpack rather than a purse. The backpack was great, I could gather up ALL my pills [i didn't take all kinds of natural supplements for fatigue] and bells & whistles and carry them with me wherever I went. I've always been one to carry a bottle of my favorite drink with me too. [Was at a funeral home at one time, when my cousins walked into the room where I was, and one said to the other.. " Ask Donna, she's always got a stash " ... did the heads turn to look at me!!!!... she meant the something to drink in my purse stashed away... lol]....... I'm not sure I could even carry a backpack now without it causing me to lose my balance. As for the doctors asking all sorts of questions.. like what medications are you taking... I always thought they were being a donkey-head asking me when it's right there in front of them on the chart (at least what I'm SUPPOSED to be taking lol).. then I read somewhere that believe it or not, it's part of the ESS testing thing to rate us on that Disability Scale thing... If we can't tell them what we take, that's cognitive dysfunction... at one point in time, I could have told them what each medication was, what dosage and how often.. I'm not sure that would happen today though. There is a method to all their madness even if it seems that the method is only to drive us mad with their questions. |)onna -------------- Original message ---------------------- > Thats a good idea too.Take the box to the doc.Everytime I go they ask,and im > like well dont you already know? Its in the computer.lol..and they still want me > to tell em.I finally wrote it down to take with to every appt. Guest guest
Hey Cassy, That would really be something, huh? If that IS what it is; may be finally the answer for all your pain and difficulties...wow...This is REALLY worth pursuing. I was just checking in real quick-the hotel has internet, so-wanted to see how my buds are doing. The wedding I went to, my nephew, Dan, and his new wife, Jodie, was incredible. They had a traditional Jewish wedding, as she is Jewish, and it was so moving, and so special. They had a woman rabbi, and she had such joy and power and grace in her voice and the entire service was so special. The Springfield Country Club in PA is amazing--beautiful, white gloves all around--the waitresses--I felt like a queen. The food was really good, although last night we all felt a bit queasy. I can't sleep on the bed here, in lots of pain! I miss my water bed! LOL! Only bed I can sleep on. I'm leaving early as I have to get back and practice Easter songs with my little nursery school, as our program for their parents is this Wed., and I've had to cancel so many with not feeling well, MRI's, bloodwork or dr's appts! Also have physical therapy at 12:30 to help me address balance/let weakness. Guest guest
I'm like that. My rheumatologist who should be treating the fibro doesn't want to touch me cause he says what's happening is neuro and my neuro says I should follow up with the rheumy. I've got a good PCP now that is best friends with the surgeon I use to work for and knows me as a person before I got sick and I'm just going to let him follow me for a while. He's the one handling my disability right now because he knows I can not go work a floor job as a nurse right now. And office nurses don't have it easy. I don't think my cognitive could keep up. In an office your suppose to be like Radar on MASH, one step ahead of your doc. 'cassandra workmn wrote: Geezzz. She actually said that? Someone in Mo was going to San Diego on vacation so she met the other list member half way between their homes and it sat in her garage until they left on vacation. Once they were in Calif., phone calls were made, they met for dinner, she got her machine, and was able to give ideas for great sites to visit that weren't the usual tourist trapsa ...... in MichiganYes, it has a seat, but I don't know how good the pad is anymore and I think it should be cleaned up first before it could be shipped. I don't have the ability to clean it up or box it up for shipping. I sure wish I did. Any ideas? Where are you at?I have a new physical problem....I have gall stones I see a surgeon Thursday.Kathi.
