Drop the dose. You can try increasing folic acid and see if that helps. My son does not tolerate more than 50 mcg B12 per day, otherwise he loses language and focus, and scripts. Guest guest
I believe you can also get in a nasal spray which has good results like sublingual and shots because it doesn't go through the digestive system but directly into the circulation. It has been a little while since I heard about this so I don't remember the details.

Guest guest
I do the side of the leg as it is easier to hit a nerve in the buttocks area whereas by doing it in the leg it is almost impossible to hit a nerve. I just grab anywhere in the thigh area and insert and press. It gets very easy after a few tries. You'll be a pro in no time. The only thing is make sure you have them always on hand as if you skip doses they get very hyper active but it works wonders. Good luck. My son freaks out with > shots. I use sublingual mB12 [altho my kids just chew it] and it works very well for us. My kids do need to take it with folic acid, carnitine, and whey protein powder, otherwise it causes hyper and does not help language. Also, it does tend to deplete other Bs [i give B50 also] and increase yeast, so watch for that. Dana

Guest guest
Right. Dr. N recommends at least 2 years while all this biomed stuff is going on. I would love to say someday- as you put it " like their NT peers " . ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
Hello all, I am recently hearing more about the positive effects of B-12 shots for our children. Does anyone know if Dr. G approves of this? Has anyone had positive experiences with this? Thanks, Martha
Guest guest
Actually...I have been reading a book about this and I am in no ways an expert, maybe Mrs. on could chip in here. I don't want to get in trouble for misinforming. Also I have asked Dr. about this and he said that he only prescribes it after certain blood tests and he recommends hydroxy B-12 instead of methyl b-12. This is based on the research of Dr. Pall who talks about the No/OONO cycle. The b-12 acts as an NO scavenger (I guess some kids/adults with have high NO levels?)Here is an article from him if you are interested in learning more about this: http://www.ei-resource.org/articles/chronic-fatigue-syndrome-articles/the-no!-oh\ -noo!-theory-and-suggestions-for-treatment/ As for Dr. G I don't know if he prescribes it. Guest guest
I used to take the cyanocalbumin B12 and they always made me feel worse, even though my B12 was low. I've never tried the meythl form. Antibiotics and antifungals bring my B12 up along w/my iron. Dr G always says it's low for a reason and to treat the underlying reason. That has been effective in my case. Guest guest
Dr. Pall's theory is still a hypothesis and even if it is proven correct, it still will not follow that all children with autism will need B 12. There are some very good reasons why a few might, and we do testing to determine who those kids are. What may be more important for most of the children is treating the oxidative stress with the anti-oxidants found in food. Dr. Pall asked me if parents of children with autism realized that for their children food (and he meant good, wholesome, nutritious, food) was medicine. I'm not going to give you my answer to him but rather I am throwing that question out for discussion. Kathy on RN, MSN NNY Autism Center **************Need a job? Find an employment agency near you. Guest guest
Try the nasal spray. From: gonza_mom <debgonzalez@...> Subject: B-12 shots Date: Friday, January 15, 2010, 12:09 PM Â O.K. for 3 years I put off giving my now 6 year old son B-12 shots. My first DAN doc prescribed them, I got them in and couldn't do it. My current doc convinced me and we have been doing it for 3 weeks. It is tough!! We use the lidocaine patch and ice, but he tells me how much it hurts every time (he never complains about anything!).The reason I am posting this is that even through all that, it is SOOOO worth it. He has improved so much I can't believe it. One of his therapists is actually talking about having him reassessed to change his diagnosis from AS to PDD. I know it is not one single thing but everything we have been doing, but WOW! P.S. If anyone has any other ideas of how to get around giving the shot or making it easier, I am open to suggestions!
